Water/Meth Kit install questions

Just received a stage 1 water/meth kit and am planning out the install, so I have a few quesitons for the meth-heads around the site:

1) Thoughts on best place to install the nozzle? (hopefully with pictures) I have read a lot on the topic and the general consensus is to mount the nozzle one of two places: in the hot side turbo boost tube between the Turbo and the IC, and between the IC and the intake in the cool side boost tube... that one seems to be more popular from what I have read, but I may be mistaken, and I would like a few green lights from MINI owners before I go ahead and drill a hole in my boost tube.

2) solenoid vs. check valve? Solenoid seems the clear winner, but I have both available. Any reason to use the check valve instead?

3) Anyone have any pictures of a good way to setup the controller/boost switch off the boost source? I am like 90% sure I know which line I need to tap into for the boost switch hookup, but again, a few green lights (or in this case a picture with an arrow pointing at the appropriate hose on an 07 MINI) would be a nice bit of assurance.

Thanks in advance, and I will post pictures when I finish the install to let you know how it finished up.

Also, to clarify, my understanding is that the only way to install a boost switch in a 2007 is to install a boost port at the MAF, so I was hoping fro confirmation that that is in fact the right point to tap into for a boost switch... if there is some other way to get vacuum pressure to a boost switch that doesn't involve one of those $50 boost ports, that would be cool to

A lot of people install the jet near the dipstick.

The boost tap would be located on the manifold under the airbox. You can see the MAP sensor in the photo, it is held on a single screw.

Ok, so the placement of the jet is pretty much exactly as I had planned. As for the boost port, it looks like you went with one of these:

instead of something like this:

Which if for nothing but the price difference, I was also leaning towards. Too bad they don't just have a vacuum line I could throw a T-valve on... but thanks for the pictures! Exactly what I was looking for!

I actually don't have a boost tap installed. The Alta or the NM Engineering ones seem to be popular.

so what do you use as the boost source and/or how do you have the boost switch connected? Or does Aquamist not use a boost switch?

Aquamist taps into the ECU. All triggers are electronic. It's a combination of injector duty cycle and boost.

Interesting. Sounds like probably a better system than the boost switch. Too bad its about 4 times as expensive as the boost switch system I got...

have you seen any before and after pictures of the valves/internals? I know that MINI's have a known problem with carbon buildup and coking, and that meth kits are supposed to help clean the valves and reduce buildup, but I haven't seen a straight up before/after meth kit picture of the valves. Would be interesting to see I think...

Also: here is my build plan:

Pump will be located in the car-jack compartment in the boot.

Reservoir will be attached to the right side bulkhead in the boot.

Hoses and wires will run through a rubber grommet in the car-jack compartment to the exterior and will run along the underside of the car, nice and tightly secured, to the right side engine compartment.

Boost switch, solenoid, and injector will all be on the right side of the engine compartment with the injector going in as was pictured above.

Only thing left to determine, is where the best place to meet my wiring up to the ignition, as the boost switch needs to be setup where it only works when a)the car is turned on and b) proper boost level (10 PSI I think) is reached. I welcome any thoughts on where to make that connection.

They way you are going to install it is great. It's how a lot of people have installed theirs.

Where to tap in for the +12V switched power, the Aquamist has us tapping into one of the ECU wires. The pump is powered directly from the battery via a relay.

Roxspin72 on here has installed a kit like yours, shoot him a PM, maybe he can tell you where he spliced into.
