Slippery steering wheel
Slippery steering wheel
In checking BMW vin decoder it tells me my '13 Justa Hardtop has a sports leather steering wheel. It feels like vinyl and driving bare handed it also feels slippery. In fact when I'm finished driving it feels like I've used a Lanolin product on my hands. Do others have this issue and is there a product that can eliminate the problem?
With no more to go on than what you've provided I'm gonna guess someone infected it with the elixir of evil, armor all. If that is so, a good remedy would be a thorough cleaning with simple green or dawn detergent.
Same here but I've found that it has enough tack to keep my hands in place without too much effort. Leather cleaner definitely helps once in a while. Otherwise the more expensive route would be to upgrade to the JCW steering wheel which has smoother leather like those found in BMW M3 - that nappa leather like texture.

A good feeling steering wheel is severely underrated. I think that it plays an important part of feeling "connected" to the car. As soon as mine starts to lose the feel, I'll replace it right away.
There are 3 "JCW" steering wheels.
The basic version is simply the standard wheel with red stitching. This model usually comes standard on JCW cars. It is not what is being discussed here.
There then are 2 fatter steering wheels, the only difference being with alcantara or without.
The pictures above appear to be of the alcantara version, where the top and bottom sections are alcantara.
I have the full leather version. Couldn't be happier.
