Applying Bonnet Stripes
Applying Bonnet Stripes
I'd like to add black bonnet stripes to my F56. I noticed that in photos of new vehicles that the factory bonnet stripes appear to curve slightly as they transition from the back of the hood to front of the hood. I love that.
If I purchase the stripes from one of our sponsors, can I apply myself and get that same "curve" as the factory look?
thanks,

DH, I would assume that the stripes you see are actually manufactured with a curve built in. I think if you try to put a curve in straight stripes they will wrinkle up. I know when I put racing graphics on our motorcycles and they are not put on straight like they were meant to be they will wrinkle up and you either have to slice the wrinkle and trim it down or reapply the graphic.
They are straight. When you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION(!), and be patient by taking your time and not hurrying or allowing any distractions, they will glide right on. As you squeegee them down they will take the form of the body shape. I've replaced stripes twice plus added boot stripes and it's a piece of cake. Just make sure there is not a fleck of dust on the paint or it will look like a boulder later on. Nobody else will notice but you sure will. When you order, insist on laminated stripes. My first two weren't and took on scars from bugs and all sorts of other nasties. The laminated still look brand new after 3 years and many road trips including one 5K trip. Two or three coats of good carnuba wax will help keep them spot free as well. Once they are on, DO NOT polish over them, if you use a random orbital mask them off.
