Replacement Battery

My R55 battery is shot. It's been dying awhile now. I've had to jump a few times, and now it's not holding enough of a charge at all (i.e., I have to jump it no matter what).

I'm trying to track down a replacement. I've read some threads here saying that I need to find a battery with similar spec to avoid having to fiddle with computer programming/registering the battery with the computer/etc.

My battery is a MINI-branded VARTA battery (61 21 7 567 836). It says it's 12 V 55 Ah 480 A 480 CCA.

When I put my 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S into the auto parts store web sites, they all give me batteries with 590-650 CA and up to 750 CCA in one case.

Are these batteries gonna work? Or can someone tell me what batteries will?

Thanks.

I just replaced mine with whatever I was given at the local Car Quest. I tried to look at it, but it's in the well and nothing on the top tells me anything. The battery I took out was whatever the dealer claims he got at Pep Boys. THAT was flat a week after I got the car from him. The new one has been fine. My experience with batteries has been that if you buy a decent brand and don't skimp you should be fine.

Autozone Duralast battery: Part Number: H5-DLG Warranty: 3 YR
Notes: Warranty consists of 3 years free replacement plus 2 years prorated. 650 Cold cranking Amps (750 cranking Amps). 60 Reserve minutes.

Also, O'reilly can look up their reference # for you, pull it off the shelf and install it while you wait. They can also check the OBC to make sure everything is working as it should.

OK...cool. I just picked up an H5 from Sam's Club and installed it and it works fine.

I'm thinking of picking one of these up for my r56. Are you still clear free from problems with the Sam's club battery?

Only thing I'd consider with anything bought from the wallyworld organization is that line from the book 'The Right Stuff', something to the effect of "...and here we sit atop a machine with 12(?) million parts and pieces all let to the lowest bidder". And more than likely made in China from whence came our fine supply of sulfur infested sheet rock, children's toys made with lead paint, light bulbs that require a hazmat team if one gets broken and now processed chicken that will have who knows what added to it.

I've had no issues from my Energizer battery from Sam's Club.

we just recently replaced the battery in my MINI with a VW one! The VW dealer price was soooo much more reasonable than the MINI dealer price. My husband had noticed that it looked the same as the Bug one and had the kid at auto zone check the numbers. They were the same!
