Motogordo's motor toys

Dec. 6, 2013

I am so glad to see that my posts are now coming up. It took me two days to figure out why they didn't...
I purchased a 2005 Mini Cooper Automatic Convertible last year from "Lenihan Motors" in Cherry Hill, N.J. I traded in my Toyota MR2 convertible which I loved but I wanted a little more room. When I saw the red 2005 on their front of the lot I decided to check it out. A couple hours later I drove it home. This past summer I drove into "Mini of Mt.Laurel" in Marlton N.J. for an oil change. While I was waiting for the service I walked out to their used car lot and saw a blue 2007 Mini CooperS convertible with the supercharged engine. I got excited. I loved the color and it was in mint condition with only 41,000 miles. Why did I trade the red one in ? This one had the navigation system, cruise control, six speed manual and the supercharged engine. Wow what a difference between the two. I never even looked at a Mini until I saw my first one last year. It is a great car and I love it. I also have a 2005 Honda Goldwing trike which I also love. And last but not least I have my 2005 Trophy Pro Walkaround fishing boat. Now you see where I got the name "Motogordo." I just LOVE motor toys.

Isn't the 2007 the first year with the turbocharged motor? You might want to double-check on that, to see if yours is really a 2006, or if it does have the turbo.

Congrats on the nice toys. A two MINI convertible household , very nice.

The R52 2007 and 2008 MINI Convertible S were the last years of the supercharged platform. They carried over when MINI went to the R56 S in 2007 with the turbo.

The dealer told me that it was a super charger and not called Turbo charged. Is he right ?

Superchargers and turbochargers are a little bit different.

Here's some reading for you:
