JCW on non s?
Everything but the engine mods/exhaust...body, suspension, brakes are all the same on gen1 cars...
The JCW package is usually the SC, head, exhaust, tune, Injectors(on a 2005+), and a few decorative parts..other JCW parts/bits were sold separate...like BIG brake Kit, Lowered suspension, etc..
The JCW bits on gen1 cars were sold as bolt on options....many cars got an item or two...everything from steering wheels, to padded dashes, padded tubes, logo's, many thousands of $$$$ could be spent on a car, AND NEVER HAVE A REAL JCW as the engine package was never installed...
Most are getting very hard to find new...but used parts are still around.
Do some research in the old stories over on Motoringfile.com...

PS....just to remind you...the car is a 2006...so MOST of the parts have not been available since late 2008...anything you find is "NEW OLD STOCK", aka been sitting on the shelf, or used....
Sure not a dealer install deal..almost a 100% DIY....after you track down the parts..

Our first MINI (2003 Justa) had the JCW kit. I think the dealer called it the JCW Sound Package or something similar. Exhaust, intake, and engine tune. I didn't really notice a difference in acceleration before/after, so I doubt the tune did much.
I don't remember the cost off hand. The car had an aftermarket exhaust when we bought it that started rattling a lot so we priced out stock vs the JCW and it was only a little more. In retrospect I should have taken it to a third party muffler shop and saved a bunch of cash, but I was young and ignorant.
It did sound really good, though.

There were two kits for the non-S first gen coopers. One was the JCW soundkit, which it sounds like what chrunch had on his. Different intake, catback, and tune. Slightly more power.
There was also the JCW tuning kit, which included a catback, different filter element, cylinder head, and tune. It had some relatively significant performance improvements.
An article to check out on the tuning kit:

The tuning kit isn't available anymore, but the JCW cylinder head is. Combine the JCW soundkit with the JCW cylinder head, and you're probably close to the tuning kit.

So based off of what you guys have said I think that the sound kit would work nicely... The only problem is that I have a bit of a choice to make... I am also planning to put a motorcycle engine on to a go-kart... It's going to be crazy. And I'm playing high school football right now so I cannot currently get a job and therefore money lol so I'm trying to decide what I want to buy first when I get a job and some money to blow on toys. Any opinions?
You really thinking of spending like $ 1500-2000 ....(the retail kit was $2650 plus install)....IF you can find the parts at all...the car, and the parts are out of production.....and were (even for a r50) VERY rare when I bought my car new in 2005.....the r50 jcw kits were never in much demand...for similar $$, folks just bought an r53/s...
My gut feeling...save you $$ for other things.... A cai, a cat back, maybe better tires...you will gain far more if you spend a couple days on a auto-x course with an instructor, learning how to use the car...
Till the car's performance is limiting you...improving it is only bling....

One question..... Why go to all that trouble on that car? There's others out there to be had that would be more worthy of the expense of the mods you're talking about making. Just my .20.
I wasn't actually considering installing all the engine upgrades. I'm only 17 and was just wondering how much it would be. But I am however interested in the sound kit which I found for around eight hundred... http://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/5...nterId=2580301....
I'm not even sure my parents would let me buy the tuning upgrades that really increase HP. So I'm more interested in improving the sound. Which I tried to do with an aftermarket magnaflow muffler but it didn't fit due to the shape of the strange stock muffler. I also was investigating and ECU and most recently a short ram filter. Which is all included in this package

The sound kit is nice, but I'm going to go with a DDM intake paired with the Milltek catback at some point in the future - both seem better than the JCW equivalents. Cost would be about the same too.
Seems like a waste of cash. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably have just gotten the coilovers, swaybar and tires on my R50 and left the rest alone. I like my CAI/Exhaust/Tune but for what I spent on that, I could have probably traded up to an R53 and been miles ahead in power.
That said, I do love the pop and burble I get on deceleration from the Borla catback.

In my case, the exhaust will be out of necessity - my muffler is slowly rusting away layer by layer.
I think I've gone through about 3 layers now - not sure how many more are left!
But you're definitely right about trading up to an R53 and getting a lot more power though. I thought about it a while back and to this day wonder if I should have, but at this point, I'm pretty committed to my R50.

I know that feeling! I was thinking about going all-out nuts and getting a head/cam... but I think I'm going to restrain myself and just leave it as is. It's a fun little devil, and i'm at a point of REALLY diminishing returns now.
