Mini/bmw antifreeze
Mini/bmw antifreeze
Hey guys
I bought an oem bmw antifreeze from local store, they said it the same as Mini.
It's 1500 ml bottle and says free from nitrite but not mention about phosphates. So is it same and safe to use on my mini coupe S ?
Thank you

If it says BMW and it is OEM, should be the same stuff....in the US anyway..it is sold in 1 gallon jugs, undiluted....other local areas may vary!!
I buy it at my local BMW dealer...cheaper than at the mini dealer?! Go figure!!
Key is...make sure it is BMW/mini, and not just "compatible" or equivalent... The OEM is blue...use other stuff at your own risk...many do..some do OK...some get flamed... Lol...

When i bought coolant i told the sale im gonna use it for my Mini and he didnt ask for model or anything so im kind of confused if this coolant is for old model or new model since i have seen many long life or year round fluid from Bmw. So does bmw oem coolant have one kind of model or else ?
Ps. The label does say anything about year round things, and i meant literally local shop not dealer
In the US the BMW/mini coolant is blue...and undiluted... You mix it with distilled water to a 50%-50% or 60-40% mix based upon the directions on the bottle....
All specs are on the bottle... Freeze, boil over, etc....Should be self explanatory...
Not sure what you bought....or where you are at...can just speaking from us experience and products from BMW/mini USA........

Sounds like the op got a jug...unmarked? At a local garage...
Guess it comes down to trust...
Assuming they just pumped some into a jug from a bulk drum of some type?
What type?? Premixed??? Nobody but the shop selling bit knows. We sure don't...
Can't answer if the stuff you bought will eat you motor's block, destroy it and void your warrenty or is just bulk BMW fluid...which SHOULD be blue....in Europe/us anyway...

Thank for ans
I live in Thailand and yes it does have bmw marked and all but the label, description, packaging, and part number is not the same as USA stuff. That's why it make me confused.
If u google 83192211191, u will know what im talking.

That Febi product is a fine replacement of the factory stuff.
Just mix it with 1:1 of distilled water. You will be good.
Should be fine from what I read too...
Part number is different cause it is an aftermarket equivalent fluid...
Most do not meet the orm spec...that one apparently does.
Just to be clear, that part # is a Motorad (motorcycle) part #. It's the same as auto, but in a small bottle.
It's probably best NOT TO MIX WITH DISTILLED WATER. USE FILTERED DRINKING WATER! It's an ionic corrosion thing...

Internet lore....
Use only distilled water....
No salts....or minerals like or drinking water...they are the issue....
The new consensus is that minerals in good filtered drinking water, pose less risk than the free ions from distilled water in aluminum cooling systems. Back when radiators were brass, and heads were steel, galvanic corrosion, deposits, and sludge formation out weighed the ionic problem. In today's mostly aluminum cooling environment, with much better antifreeze formulations, you should use filtered drinking water...

First time I'm hearing this.
Given the chlorine content in my city water I can't see how this can be true.
