General Info Needed

Guys and Gals
Thinking of buying a Mini Cooper S (2004-2007) I was wondering what the difference in replacement parts compared to other vehicles. Is it generally more expensive to repair than say a Ford, Honda, or Toyota. Also what are some pros and cons of the Mini?? I currently own a Honda Element which I love but I'm really on fever for the S type.

Just FYI, for the hatchback style, MINI changed generations for the years you listed. Through 2006 was the first generation and the "S" model was supercharged this model is called the R53 and from 2007 on the "S" model is turbocharged this model is called the R56.

As far as cost for repair, think BMW (they are owned by them).

It will be less likely to find non-oem parts for the MINI regardless of year since it is a more rare car than hondas and fords. OEM parts = more expense.

Average cost of ownership is about the same as a BMW 3 series... expect to sink a few hundred dollars on parts if the car is out of warranty.

Agreed. Definitely more expensive to maintain than any of the three makes you listed. Parts are expensive and reliability isn't on par with the Japanese (in my experience). More fun though.

Yep, just as others stated. More fun, but way more expensive. If you're looking for a vehicle on par with a Honda as far as repair costs, a mini S is not what you need.
