MINI used as mobile advertisement

I was out and about a bit ago and saw a MINI that was custom wrapped for Work out World (a gym located throughout NJ). At first I saw it in my rear view and thought it was a very unusual light green color with gold markings. I changed lanes and slowed down so it would catch up and was pleasantly surprised by the nice marketing strategy WOW used. I couldn't help but smile and give the driver a thumbs up. He wouldn't even make eye contact. (Obviously, he was just a hired driver and not an owner) It was great, fun advertising. Has anyone else noticed MINIs being utilized this way?

Off topic but I wonder if that guy is related to two MINI drivers I encountered during my evening commute. I'm in the center lane of three at a red light. Two MINIs were next to me in the right lane. Three MINIs within a very small area, what are the odds ? I toot my horn to give a wave, neither of them even glanced my way... in fact I could see the look in their eyes... "who the hell is tooting at me, I'm not going to look".

WTH ?

Just goes to show, MINI owners aren't what they used to be. I'd say more than half these days just think of their MINI as a car, simple transportation. Disheartening.

This sort of thing is very common... As noted, Red Bull's been using MINIs for the last 10 years... there was also an Oscar Meyer Weinermobile made out of a MINI - it was revealed on one of the morning shows (GMA I think) about 8 years ago. There's a thread here and probably a story on Motoringfile about it...

Delta Air Lines also customized a MINI for an ad campaign... Adding wings and even "jet engines" to the MINI they used. It was on display at JFK and ATL for a bit... I think AMEX was involved in that campaign. Again, there are probably photos of that MINI in a thread here on NAM...

The MINI with it's distinctive shape is used by lots of companies for their advertising...

Here's one of the threads on the MINI based Weinermobile

Here's the Delta one...

Then there's the infamous UK Maxim Magazine MINI that shows up ever so often... The one with the cleavage on the bonnet...

Saw one wrapped in advertising for a driving school. Initially my plan for getting a mini right now was to wrap my windows with an ad for my travel agency, since electric blue matches the Caribbean Sea so well it would have been perfect... but then I got laser blue instead. So for now I'll make due with some door magnets.
