okay, so I see many MINIacs have named their cars. My R52 has yet to tell me her name so I was wondering what some names are and how your MINI/Mini told you.

I named my Roadster S "John Bull", the British equivalent to America's "Uncle Sam". It came to me immediately and I knew it was right. He is in the middle of production in Oxford (as of 9/6/13).

After watching my daughter on the riding lawnmower, then student driving, I teased her that for her own safety her first car should be a "tank".

She joked about it with the guys at school; when she showed up last week with her first car, an '07 MC, its name was unanimously proclaimed:

"Sherman"

Its a car, not a pet or a person. It has no name, it has no personality, it has no identity. My 2003 had no name, nor my 2012.

That's fine. I never named my previous cars except my MGB. I called him "The Brit" (short for British Leyland) for some mysterious reason. Otherwise, it's always been the "Jag", the "Caddy", the "Hummer" (H3), the "Beamer", etc.

I name all my cars But By far the name that came for me for this one was perfect

Bella is a female name. It is a diminutive form of names ending in -bella, such as Isabella and Annabella. "Bella" is related to the Italian and Latin words for beautiful.[1][2] Despite the name Bella meaning beautiful, Bella is also literally translated in Latin meaning "Wars."[3]

I had a bit of a fight to Get her, and a wait like with any good love story.

I'm fascinated with the respective gender and name choices people make and, to a lesser degree, why they name their cars at all.

My oldest daughter never named her cars. My youngest daughter currently drives a BMW 328i named "Brutus" (after Brutus Buckeye the Ohio State mascot). Of course, I had my MGB nicknamed the "The Brit" and now a MINI Roadster S named "John Bull". Go figure...

Artoo is the name of my 2003 R53. On Pirate days he answers to Arrrrrrrrrr. But most days he uses the Force to get me to campus through Beggars Canyon.

I've never named cars, but I started referring to my MINI as"The MINI Pooper", I even changed the lettering on the back.

My 13 JCW has a red roof so named him after a famous person who had red hair. And because he's sick fast, I changed it up a bit. His name: Vincent Van Go. Vincent for short.

My 05 R50 appears a lot slimmer than the R56 so his name is Starvin Marvin. Marvin for short.

The 06 CR with Checkered Roof and bits that I have sold was named Bergey after Bill Bergey, former linebacker of the Philadelphia Eagles.. went with my tag: GOEAGLS.

The 05 MCS convertible that has since been sold was Jet Black with Union Jack theme so it only made sense to call him Dr Evil. His tag was DR EEVL.

Never mind the names of the Countryman and the PW R50... my other half named them girly names.
