I believe most dealers provide specialty tools that techs "check out" for specific repair jobs. There are a bunch of them for MINIs. As stated, techs are generally responsible for hand and air tools and something to put them in.

Hey guys just wanted to give you an update . I've started growing my tool box and it's addicting! So far I've opted for mostly gear wrench since the matco guy will warranty it and I was able to get 300 dollars worth of tools from advanced with 6 months no interest. I picked up swivel sockets and ratchets a torx set a hex date some extensions oil sockets and reversible ratchet wrenches. I also picked up a Ridgid electric impact for. 3/8 Then I splurged for a used snap on electric impact with clutches that I use for 1/4 sockets.

I'm not a full-time tech, but I've found the 1/2" cordless impact wrench from Harbor Freight (item 67845) to actually be a pretty decent one.

Of course, you'll probably have access to air, so going with an air impact would certainly trump that one.

If you do end up getting the HF one, be sure to call the number in the manual and order an extra battery so you'll always have a charged one on hand.

I actually have a 1/2 head for my electric as well but I usually opt for air if im going to need that kind of torque. We have 2 air drops at each lift but they are a hassle and not really necessary for taking off most bolts on the primarily newer cars we work on......especially being in florida. Its a lot quicker (and quieter) to just use electric, tends to keep everyone more relaxed. =)
