What a shame. I had my car at the dealership today and was admiring the one they had and read an article about them. It's practical and great looking. A FUN car that gets your work done in style with the ability to advertise your business as well - cool. The retro vibe is really strong but it also seems very modern... Would love to see them around town. Sounds like a tax whose time has come and gone.

"Chicken Tax"? Heaven forbid we should force American products to actually be good enough to compete on a level playing field. LOL. When I was car shopping, I tested several American made cars. I couldn't believe how crummy a lot of them were.

Morristown Mini had/has one of these on the lot I think. Looked awesome. Too bad I had no use for one.

Not surprised. Given the cost... Some decals and a Clubman (seats folded down/removed) gets you the same thing for less money..

Never seen one in person... Only have ever seen a handful of Clubmans in the wild.

I'm sure that the "Chicken Tax" pushed the price of the MINI high enough to make it as expensive or more expensive than vehicles with a higher storage capacity. Bye bye Clubvan.

Kind of a bummer, but you could easily make a van. Get a Rear Seat Delete and then contact one of the excellent MINI vinylers like Todd (Todd's Mods) or Lyle (Vinyl Styles) and they'll create something cool for those back windows.

Something similar happened with Ford and its Transit Connect. They had to outfit them with seats and side windows to be able to avoid the chicken tax since they are build in Turkey, then they would rip the seats off the van and recycle them. I don't know if ford it's building this vans in the US as of now but that's what they did back then, it's a shame that the Chicken Tax still around.
