Problem finding a part

I just took possession of a '09 clubman from an auction. JCW, manual transmission.

On top of the steering column there are about 10 tiny light bulbs that should have a cover over them. The owners manual discusses a green tire pressure light, but there are no pictures of what the other symbols may be on this indicator cover.

Mini of Louisville does not have the part in stock and it cannot be ordered. I have contacted a few salvage yards and am waiting on a response. Part number is 62-13-0-419-083.

Could someone please describe what this light indicator cover looks like, or even better, post a picture.

Thanks

Is it the gear indicator? If it is then is a part that you order and have it installed, it is a Mini part and I don't think that they have a cover on them, the lights move from left to right every time you shift and change colors right?

Thanks for the quick response. Yes it is #2 in the diagram. The lights illuminate when the engine is started, then the green in the center stays illuminated and the others do nothing.

This JCW gear shift indicator light mounts to the dash in front of the center vent and lights up from the left to right in green, yellow, and red to indicate shift points . Shift points are adjustable through the included box.

There is no cover that is they way it look, depending on the RPM the lights will turn colors, I don't have it myself but I think that the more RPMs you the more colors you will get from left to right, green, yellow and red. I never rev my engine that much. I guess that if you haven't seen the other colors is because you don't drive too hard, I usually.shift in low RPM, so guess that I would mostly see only the green light as well.

Whatever these lights are, they are located on the steering column.

Run the engine to red line and the yellow and red should light up. The shift light is a way to know where the rpm's are without looking at the tach.

Yea they are on the steering wheel for the Gen 2 MINI R55 MINI Clubman, R56 MINI Cooper hardtop, and R57 MINI Convertible models.

The shift light bar itself is NLA. #2 in diagram.

There is a R56 & R55 version which is NLA.

&

#1 R57 MINI convertible version. Since it has the lid shell of the R57 with the little Bluetooth bump for the convertible, really one difference, people have used these with the R55 and R56 models. That's the only one available.

They talk about it here. You can set the shift light.

Check the settings on the dip switch and the plugs behind the dash, might be disconnected of set something different.

Here is a little video someone posted in action.

Thanks and hope that helps.

Thanks, those are the lights. They must have a loose connection since they do not change. How do you dim them? I am afraid if the piece of electrical tape I put on comes off I will burn my retina.

It's ok minibx. You were maybe thinking about Gen 1 MINI R50 R53 Hardtop (2002-2006) & R52 Convertible (2005-2008) chassis. They had the center mounted one. Lights left to right and look pretty cool also.

Its also a great looking shift light and on the center dash.

I don't think that you can dim them, I wonder if using a bit of plati dip would be a cool idea!!!
