Left my windows cracked one day while at work. Thunderstorm rolled in... yep, an inch or so of rain on the floorboards.

Wet/Dry vac, blot the carpeting with towels, then let it air out. Mine was dry in 12 hours with no sign of mold, funny smell, or anything.

Question is, where did your water come from ??

do you have a sunroof? It can leak into the car if the drains are clogged.

A/c drain will do this as well. My wife's was kinked from the factory. Look under the car and see if your ac is draining.

had exactly the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. only on the passenger side, tons of water after a rainstorm so I concluded it had to be some drain related issue. Had my shop check it out, turns out the passenger sunroof drain (if you open the sunroof you can see them close to where the sunroof curves to the top) was disconnected and so all the water would just leak into the passenger footwell and soak the carpets. They had to order a 5 dollar part and do 3 hours of labor, pulling down the headliner apparently takes a long time, to fix it. I was quoted 2.5 hours by mini of stl, 4 hours at the shop but i talked them down to 3 hours max.

Same here, when they fixed my sunroof they did not hook up drain properly. Actually had rain from rear view mirror area as well. They reattached it and fixed problem. If you thread some stiffer electrical wire from top to bottom it should come out bottom of car.

Check the to cassette where the water drains in the corners. Sunroof drain tubes. They can clog with debris and such. There are two in the front and two in the rear. #10 and #11 in pics.

Here is the fix kit for the front drains::

Gen 1 R50 / R53 MINI Cooper Models:::

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/54107043425/ES156702/ #11

Also if they are clean and look ok the drain tube might be leaking. You have to get behind the headliner and A pillars to see. Since its in the front you will want to check #10 connection as the problem.

Click Here for how to: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...of-drains.html

For Gen 2 R55 R56 MINI models , they have they same general set up as the Gen 1. Check the connection at the hose to the tray and also check to see if debris clogged the sunroof tray near the hose connection.

#2 in the diagram

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51738197504/

Rear # 3 Water outlet hose rear 272 mm size.

or

Rear # 3 Water outlet hose rear 739 mm size.

Match up the size length to the old one if replacing.

Thanks and hope that helps.

I have the same problem. Dealer just called to tell me it's going to be $4000 to replace the electronics under the pass side footwell carpet due to corrosion :-o

I am going to have to file an insurance claim. :-(

Well that sucks. What is under the passenger footwell? I thought it was just the ECU?

If water is allowed to sit in the passengerside long enough it will wipe out the BC1 module and the wiring to the 2 lower connectors. Its usually repairable but if allowed to go on long enough it could result in a body harness replacement and then it gets really expensive.

This happened once or twice on my 2007 - No pool of water, but just moist carpet. Underwarranty, the dealer replaced the rubber door seal on that side. And it never leaked again.
