VANOS actuator installation with home tools

Just had both cams out and reinstalled using two wrenches and a peice of round material that was .540 in diameter to put the crank 90 degrees. If your intersted in knowing the details how to do it PM me or just ask. 400 Dollar tool kit definately makes it easier but its not needed. Just alittle bit of back yard ingenuity. If you have mechanical ability you can do it.

I have to go out and do some more work because of a tune issue that the tuner keeps telling me its the car, not the tune. I've got pictures of before and after the tune. Maybe I will do just that for ya. I will say that the alignment pin to lock the crank was a pipe nipple about 1" long from the local hardware store and I made it the correct size by putting it over a screw driver and turn on the bench grinder to widdle it down. That way it's still somewhat of a circle. Then just kept fitting it in the alignment hole til I got it were I wanted it. Cam shaft are took 2 people. Maybe I will post photos of the tools in a little bit.
