Warranty questions

If I bought a mini that still had some of the 3 year 36k mile boot to bonnet maintenance left is it transferable? If it is and I bought from a mini dealership a few hours away does the maintenance have to be done at that specific dealership or could it be performed at my local mini dealer? Also what if I purchased a used mini from a say a toyota dealer? Does the maintenance have to be performed at the mini dealer that mini was purchased from?

Is the 6-year 100k warranty worth the additional cost? From what I've read it seems to be pretty restrictive.

The maint is 3yr 36k miles and it is just as transferable as the 4yr 50k bumper to bumper warranty. These come with the car even if it gets 5 owners.

Any MINI dealer can service the car, no matter where you bought it.

Warranty, maybe...it all depends on how the first 4 yrs or 50k miles go.
Maintenance, maybe...if you have a stick, I say yes.

Only the person selling the warranty can tell you...there are MANY 3rd party warranty companies....
Some are OK...some are just scams.....
the 3/36 bumper to bumper and the 4/50 came with the car from the manufacture....both free with the new car....

I wouldn't say that the maintenance is free. It's built into the price of the car. So it's more accurate to say no extra charge...

As for who can service it and maintain the warranty, let's just say that legally, anybody can service it, but you better keep very good records, and make sure that they use approved parts, fluids, and procedures.

We live over 100 miles from the nearest dealership so that's 200 miles round trip say just to get the oil changed.
Barely makes any sense to have it serviced at the dealership even when it's free for the first 36K miles and certainly not feasible after the free maintenance runs out.
How good is Mini Cooper at working with those customers who live too far from the nearest dealership to justify having routine maintenance performed at the dealership?
As long as you have reciepts and keep a log book of the self service you perform, do the dealerships give these customers any flack if warranty work should be needed?
There aren't that many Mini Dealers where I live, only one in Oklahoma that I know of.
I don't think it's reasonable to expect those like us to sevice our Mini's at a dealership thats too far away( I think anything requireing over 100 miles round trip for service is too far).
