Comfort Access?
Windows Down/Sunroof Tilt via Key Fob (was Comfort Access?)
What's the deal with comfort access? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... so I'm wondering, do you need to be a certain distance away? Or maybe it's just that the battery on my FOB getting low?

Apparently it was, as I discovered by accident when once I kept the button pressed too long. Since then, when I try to activate it, it seems to work only sporadically.
And thanks, I'll try the battery replacement.

I think you are referring to "windows down and roof tilted" when you hold in the key fob access on first gen R50 and R53. From a distance you can hold the key open button and have the car window open. On the R52 it was to put the top down.
On Second gen R56+ is was a button on the door handle with the key close , to open the door.

Comfort access is the ability to LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN YOUR POCKET and start the car with a button....the button start option was an option that COULD be added...but not sure if the keyless part was...due to the steering wheel lock....
Ah. Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I'm talking about windows down/sunroof tilt via key FOB. It's working intermittently, and for some odd reason seems to work better when I'm about 8-10 feet from the car. More or less, no joy. But even at optimum distance it doesn't always work.
I'll try replacing the battery and see if that does the trick.
I've edited the OP title.

Had my mini since new...
The range has never been great...
And the window opening option has been more trouble for some than it is worth...
Tight pants or keys getting pinched in a purse can result in sunroof/windows opening...and if it rains.....happened to a few....
The receiver in the car is in the rear view mirror....
Batteries on the 2005+ refresh gen1 cars recharge when driving...batteries are not made to be changed.

For clarification, Comfort Access is an option that allows for truly keyless entry. It is only on the second generation cars (R55-R61) and is either a stand alone $500 option or part of a package. You will know if a car has it if it has a little black rubber button on the door handles. You can unlock and start the car with the key in your pocket or purse. Being able to open the windows and sunroof by holding down the unlock button on the key is called convenience opening. It is standard on all models and was also available on first generation cars (R50-R53).
