G-Force Chip installation gone bad

I bought a G-Force performance Chip for a 2008 Mini S. Had my local guys install it, what a mess. The check engine light came on immediately, apparently they had the lead to the wrong wire (Orange), contacted G-Force, they said swich orange to yellow. After switching to yellow wire, light remained on. Took it to Mini dealer, they switched out some sensors and pronounced that the wire had "tapped into the DME had shorted the DME", needs a new DME for $2221! G-Force says it's impossible for a chip to short out an ECU (is that the same as a DME??) no matter how it's installed, "there are safeguards". Check engine light still on, car runs fine except audio chime sounds off and on occaisionaly. Help me someone! Anyone out there have a similar experience, if so, how was it resolved?? Thanks for reading.

Should have removed all traces of the install before taking it to the dealer.

The saga of the "piggyback" now continues onto the GEN2 cars....
Think I have heard all this BEFORE....

some folks cooked ecu's, had harness fail, the plugs come undone....many an ECU was swapped out from this "safe, simple item"....go figure.
Back BEFORE gen1 tuning was possible.....and PIGGYBACKS were the ONLY way...given a few years, the encryption was hacked/broken....and tunes became common....
Good Luck....sounds like you are in the crapper for some $$$.
I'm sure folks HOPE this company has found a way to make it work....
but history says otherwise...along with this attempt...
Hopefully it is worth it....now for the LONGTERM checks...to see if the performance STAYS or if the computer adapts to the data....

EDIT::Sorry to EVEN CALL THIS A PIGGYBACK....it is just a scam...good luck!!

Thanks Zippy NH

Hey Zippy, although it's not what I wanted to hear, I appreciate your input.

My warrenty had expired, so I don't think removing the unit would have helped, but thanks for your input.

The moral of the story - do your research before you buy. Any small amount of searching would have turned up this: http://gforcechipscam.com/

Besides, what did you expect from a product that claims to benefit everything from a Prius to a Lamborghini?

Sorry you got scammed. As always, caveat emptor.
