HELP - - - 2009 Clubman S- Day # 2
I bought a 2009 Clubman S yesterday and posted how much I loved it.
Today I was driving with my wife at about 40 mph and the car downshifted so hard, it through us into the dash ( luckily we were buckled ) and the car barked its tires. I thought I might have accidentally hit the paddle shifters and thought nothing of it.
So I loaded the family up and figured we would head out to the mountains for a nice trip in the new car.... half way there.. the car lurches and goes into 'safe mode' and will not shift out of 6th gear.. I pull over and turn the car off and restart with no code, but after 2-3 minutes, it lurches again and will not leave 3rd gear. I had to get it towed home..
So much for Day # 2.....
P0717 is the code it threw...

My wifes did the same thing. What happened is that the oil level was a bit low, some of these cubbies use oil so be ware of that. It is an acceptable level per mini. Anyway the car went into safe mode wich will limit your speed and shifts. I checked the oil poured in some to proper level and was all fine after that. And by oil I mean engine oil. The computer in these new car will for the most part keep you from destryoing the car.
