Oil Change - Use 0W - 40 ?

I have a case of Mobil1 0W - 40 synthetic oil and was thinking of using it for my next two oil changes on my 2013 R58 Coupe.

Was going to do one change at 1,250 miles (only has 775 miles right now). Then not sure if I should do another before the dealer scheduled one at 10K or wait until 15K and do the next.

But most importantly should I even use the 0W - 40 versus the Mini recommended 5W - 30. I'm in SoCal and the ambient temperature range will probably be 50 to 95 degrees over the next several months.

Any thoughts?

The Euro blend M1 is approved by Mini, so go ahead.

I chenged my oil at 1500 miles, then again at 6500. BOth times I sent sample to Blackstone labs for analysis, and have now settled on 7500 mile oil and filter changes.

So the viscosity difference won't be an issue?

It's approved by MINI, what more do you want?

Actually the case of oil is in my garage from last year (another car, since sold). So one might say it's free (already paid for at least). I think it was under $7 a quart too.

It meets specs, you'll be fine. It's a good oil.

I think amazon still has a deal on 0-w40 still. $50 for a case (6 qts) and $12 rebate or if you buy 2 cases then u can qualify for their $24 rebate return. Great deal in my opinion

I use the M1 0W40 here in the 100+ summers of Vegas and have no issues what-so-ever.
Having said that, I do change my oil every 5-7k depending on how hard I've been running.
Just tore my engine apart last week. The head was spotless and the surfaces of the pistons took just 10min with starter fluid and a brush. (06 R53 128K)

The Euro blend M1 0W-40 is all I've ever used. FWIW, I'm on my third MINI and have never experienced any noticeable oil consumption or any other engine-related problem. Like many others, I double the MINI recommended frequency of changes and put a new filter on every time.

I've used both GC 0W-30 and Mobil 1 0W-40, here in Phoenix. Both hold up just fine in the extreme heat. I prefer GC, but both oils meet the ACEA A3/B3 and BMW LL-01 specs. Mobil 1 0W-40 is a great oil!
