iPhone app for Car computer

Check this out.
Automatic Link uses iPhone to make regular cars smarter

They even highlight a Cooper!

Their marketing Dept did a wonderful job. It looks polished and the site/video looks really nice. It's REALLY tempting!

Anyone use the other iPhone OBD2 apps?

It's funny that you posted this because I was about to today. I does look tempting. A buddy pre-ordering it for his VW Golf, should be here in May. I will evaluate then.

That's the part that I DON'T like. But having access to codes and easily see trip information is something I have been wanting to do. Android has Torque which I would really like. I want to be able to see and record what is happening to all kinds of different settings. I want to see boost, temps, levels etc...

But I wonder if/how/when the data can be used against you. I guess everything comes at a cost.

...when you get in an accident and the module is pilled by the "man" who wants to review your driving history.

Of course, depending on how you drive - It could also be used to help / defend you as well as used against you.

Interesting and perhaps worrisome

Your smart phone already has this data available and doesn't need to be talking to your car to record or transmit your speed and/or location history - big brother may already be watching. This is supplied by the GPS which is built into almost every smartphone. Many applications monitor you location unless you specifically shut off this feature. If you don't want big brother watching you had better drop off the grid - including blogging.

I have preorder this product. There are several benefits that look to far out weight any risks.
