I would like to delete some of the chrome starting with the tail light trim ring, I see on the older mini it did not have a trim ring and I would like to know if anyone has any info on one that fits the same as the old style deleting the trim. I have a R56 2009

 

The first gen heads and tails are not the same as the 2nd gen. You can do a few things though, plastidip them yourself, vinyl wrap them yourself or pay someone, or buy the newly available black rings from your local dealer.

 

Don't think first gen has TL rings external. Wife's R52 looks like thin and internal.

 

That's my back up plan, I like how smooth the 2nd gen tails are I'm gonna figure something custom I think.

 

The second generation has the ability to use the replacement Black Line trim which can be found here:

For the first gen you would have to open up the sealed lens. For the second gen its an easy chrome version to black line trim swap.

Get some paint to match your can and paint them - pretty easy
