I pulled into the dealership to visit the service department, and there was a GP2 parked out front. A sales guy ran over and warned me I wasn't allowed to take any pictures of it and that they couldn't have pictures popping up anywhere until it was "official." He pulled it inside and hid it in the basement garage immediately after. I suspect it had just been delivered. I couldn't get any clear answers as to why it was hush-hush. Two different sales reps had some cryptic comments about it.

However, I did have a good look at it, and it's a pretty fantastic looking car. Recaro seats look nice, leather dash looks good, red shift **** insert looks pretty sharp, red bracing in lieu of the rear seats. Red brake ducts really pop. I noticed it had Kumho Ecsta tires, is that a first for MINI?

Is anyone here planning on getting one? The salesman didn't know the MSRP off hand but I'm sure in Canada it's north of $50k.

 

Interesting they say that because there was one out at one of the meets this past Sunday and I'm pretty sure many pictures were taken of the car.

 

Umm.. They had one at the NAIAS I believe.. I swore I saw it there.. I could be wrong though..

 

They've had them at dealerships all over the country. There was one at SuperCarSunday this weekend, a MINI rep brought it and drove it in our caravan along with the other 50 members. He popped the bonnet and left the boot/doors unlocked. We were free to check out the engine and sit in the driver seat. No test drives tho.

45K in Canada. Likely a bit over $50K once taxes are factored in. I think they are accounted for (pre-ordered).

 

Interesting! It sure does look great. Perhaps whoever had pre-ordered the one at my local dealership requested they keep it under wraps for him, or something.

 

Quite a sexy machine indeed. Wouldn't think there would be too many on the road, but it has to be pretty sickly quick.
