Differnt mod ideas?
Hey guys n girls! I was just wondering what would be some good mods to do on an r50 mini cooper!!! I just want some more snap behind it!! If anyone has any ideas at all i would greatly appreciate it!!!! Thanks!!!

Im looking for more performance and handling!!!! With a little styling mixed in!!!

I'll give you the short version, since I've done *nearly* everything you can do (within reason.) to my R50.
Power is expensive, suspension and handling are king. If I had to do everything again, I'd do it in this order:
>Lightweight wheels, sticky summer tires
>Coilovers (or good shocks like Koni Yellows and lowering springs.)
>SprintBooster (Makes the throttle more sensitive. A million threads on this divisive issue. I love mine.)
>19MM Rear Sway Bar (Helps reduce understeer, stiffens up the back end.)
>Cold Air Intake (I have an aFe, Way/DDM is also a good one.)
>Good cat-back exhaust (I have a Borla.)
>Tint
>Audio stuff (head unit, sub, amp.)
I'm really happy with everything I've done. With the intake, exhaust, and Sprint Booster it feels much quicker than stock. Tires and wheels make a big difference here, too. The handling with the suspension changes is phenomenal, it grips like crazy around the corners and feels very confident being driven hard.
It'll never be a fast straight line car but it can be quick through the turns. The only things I haven't done are camshaft and cylinder head, and headers, which are $$$$. I'm hoping to get an ECU tune shortly for another 10-12HP and then I'll be finished.

Thank you! Great ideas!!! I just have one question? Where do you get a good ECU tune ive been researching and came up with nothing its really bumming me out!!
Start with our Way/DDM intake it is great bang for the buck.
Then a rear sway bar is the next best mod for that car. After that cost goes up for less gain.

Not a lot of people tune their R50's, since most chasing power go for the Cooper S. I'm getting mine tuned by Jan at Revolution Motor Works (RMW) and I believe Way at WayMotorWorks tunes R50's as well. There are other options you can look into (Evolve, ByteTronik) but I haven't heard much about them. Way and Jan both have great reputations.
