Wrecked and Damaged MINI Pics Thread

Since we've been parting out MINI's I thought it would be interesting to start a thread of pics of wrecked and damaged MINI's. If you can't stomach it I understand, but I really think this will show how safe these cars really are.

Kid wrecked this walked away with only a scratch from the radar detector flying off the windshield.

I like this idea.

Next time I go for an oil change, I'll grab some pics of MINI World's yard. They have some of every model stacked, cut in half, flipped over. It's quite sad but the passenger cabin on them all are still very much intact except for the ones cut in half.

I'm a young driver, but damn some of these kids that drive cars I'm like shocked what really happens. I couldn't imagine my MINI ever being wrecked like that.

This happened to me three days ago. It was a 55MPH collision with the passenger quarter of a Kia that got knocked into my lane from another vehicle rear ending it. Behold the awesome safety of the Mini:

were you hurt? I hope not. These little cars are built pretty strong. The bad thing is they're so low everyone hits us above the bumper :(

I'm glad you are ok, give it a few days or weeks and report any pain or problems in your joints or neck/back. Not all injuries show up right away.
Keep your medical receipts as insurance pays for that.

Was there anyone else in your car?

Did anyone in the Kia get injured?

It looks like you had a full frontal impact which is better than an offset impact.

Are you thinking about what you are going to do to replace your MINI?

I hurt just looking at this one...

Glad the injuries were minor and hope they stay minor. I don't see anything that indicates a head injury, which is good. But if you did have any kind of head injury, get your self checked out if you experience anything out of the ordinary for the next 6 months even something that seems minor. Really, it can be a sign of something very serious.

I also can speak from personal experience about the crash worthiness of these cars (no pics, but it looked similar to the above). I didn't even think twice about buying a second one. After what I went through and came out of it with only a bruise on my elbow and ego , I wouldn't trust my life to another car.

Hope you find a satisfying replacement.

u238, don't sign any release forms for a few months. Like minihune says, things don't always show up right away. keep an eye on yourself as you go looking for a new MINI

WOW! This is an incredible picture. I think what impresses me most is the contrast of the damage on the passenger compartment vs the bonnet: only a couple ripples along the roofline and the sunroof is a little bit askew. Bravo to the MINI safety designers.

Glad to hear you're OK, u238. Hopefully you'll be back in a Mini soon!

Glad U238 is ok! What catches my attention is how the windshield shattered. Looks like a small bowling ball went through it.

I don't know how u238 isn't still shaking.

Thanks guys! I've already replaced the car with a nice 2011 cooper s in midnight metallic black. I was alone in the vehicle. Sadly the driver of the Kia was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected and killed.

u238...Although a tragic event overall, glad to hear that you are okay.

And the 2011 MCS MB is a very nice replacement, indeed.

Sad, very Sad for the other driver. And their lost was someone else's fault. But, it is a shame that some people don't believe in wearing safety belts and they do protect you when someone can so easily take control over your life, as in this case.

Again, u238, glad you are OK and nice choice of replacement car.

BTY - What about the person that started the whole thing?

I'm not sure what's happening to him. He came out unscathed and admitted fault at the scene. I have a feeling he's in for a rough life for a while.

There is something, actually a lot, to be said for honesty, even if it hurts. It takes a really big person to admit to doing something wrong, especially in a case like this. And you are right, especially for a person like that, they will be thinking about this for a really long time and life is really going to be rough for a while.

Thanks for sharing.

That picture isn't Mini related but it's German engineering related.. We had a ton of snow the past three days in Northeast Ohio and I-90 West and East was closed down because of 20+ car accidents in a 15 mile stretch.. This is one of the cars in an accident.. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured in this..
