I totaled my MINI three weeks ago. I was sleep-deprived and made a bad decision which resulted in me hitting a highway support pillar head-on. Thankfully, no one else was involved. I broke my foot, which required surgery, but other than that and some bruises I'm ok. I hate that I made such a stupid decision but I'm so thankful for how well my MINI protected me.
Wow that is quite a hit! And the MINI seems to have done more than it was designed to do to save you.

I am also glad you told your story. Driving while tired is probable one of the most ignored problems on the highway but we all have been there. This is an important reminder of the consequences.

Thanks! It was a tough little car and I'm devastated that it's gone. I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to get another MINI. I loved my MINI but I'm not sure that I want to take on the risk of a used MINI nor do I like the F56. Fortunately, I have a few months before I have to purchase another car.
On I-495 West, just on the Virginia side of the American Legion Bridge, a MINI was on fire during rush hour today. It was a hardtop, but I don't know if two door or four door because, well, everything forward from the hatch was a flaming ball of smoldering ruin.
