That was a hypothetical search. Type in lets say the most common thread for us r56 S owners, intakes. See what happens.
I beleive thats why there is an advanced search so that you can only look in the titles and not just key words. Maybe this would help those looking for specifics.

Or maybe no one should be allowed to post anything that lists their mods, unless it is a technical thread? Because they are always going to have the most recent results.

Learning to search a forum is a time saver. I was a moderator on a very large forum, like this one, and that was one of the things we helped people with. A few tips can do wonders.

Why not just do the advanced search. You can access it by hitting the search button then the advanced option pops up. Then you can narrow down your search anyway you like. Theres just a thought.

Really? You don't think the MINI forum is the place to blow off steam regarding issues people are having with their MINI?

As far as the search function issue, well, it's just a shitty feature here. I use google to search the site with much better results.

But i will get another one. They are worth it.
For what you probably spent on the cost of the car plus the repairs you could have bought a Honda or Toyota and spent zero on repairs. I would have ousted that car. You must have a lot of money to burn or you paid practically nothing for the car to begin with. You paid $5.70 per mile to drive that car plus the cost of gas!! Wow.

How can you say it was worth it?

No because whining and bitching about it is not going to solve the problem. If you come here seeking help that is completely fine but, coming here and slamming MINI for your(whoever's problem not you specifically) either ignorance of cars in general or your lack of any kind of respect is just wrong. I don't go to MINI meets or other car meets and slam the crap out of the organizer, other cars, etc. So why would that be acceptable here? I am all about helping people out but, don't want people to use this place as a punching bag.

I like the Mini brand a lot. But when somebody drops 40 large on a JCW or other model and he or she has problems with it and nobody seems to listen, especially at the dealerships, sometimes this is the only place to go and complain. It's a place where you can go to get some semblance of understanding and blow off some steam. (People can sometimes go too far and for them I make no excuses.)

I've had very good luck with the 3 Mini's I have owned. I don't mod and and I take very good care of them but lets face it even with good care these cars are bloody expensive to work on. Many times the problems are user induced, IE: oil not changed enough or checked enough is a good example and lets face it a lot of people buy these cars and beat the crap out of em and then wonder why they break. Well duh.

I am concerned about my JCW. I don't beat it and take excellent care of it but the reality is as I get older and tend to want to spend less on maintenance and more on retirement keeping the Mini beyond it's warranty period is a question mark for me. Especially when extended warranty costs $3900.00. (Mini product price.) I will be monitoring my car closely for any anomalies but even if it is relatively free from defects during the warranty period I may just sell it or use it as trade bait to get a car with longer term reliability and cheaper repair costs. (Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic.) My wife's car does have the extended warranty and maintenance so we will keep that car until the end of the warranty then go to a more practical car for this time of our life. (Think save money instead of spend it. Trust me retirement is there before you know it.)

I would really like to have the confidence to trade it in on another Mini but frankly I just don't have that level of confidence in the car brand as a whole. I like them alot like I previously mentioned I just don't trust em.

I can't wait till I am retired so I can work on my car more and **** off all the time. That sounds like the life I want.

I'm a mod on a Grand Prix enthusiast site with about 5,000 members. We have a mini-chat box on top of the forums that gets used as the search function. Our search kinda sucks, so we usually use Google to find what we need for our new members. Some people have had good luck with the search, but some.... no.

So keeping this thread alive by bitching and complaining about others bitching and complaining about there experiences with their MINI is ok? LMAO No offense Porthos
