how to fix popped out lighter?

how to fix popped out lighter?-image-3841919091.jpg

The lighter holder ( dont know its correct name) was perfectly fine but one day i remove my car charger and it came out as well. My previous car had the same issue so when i got my Mini i always held it down with one finger and pulled the charger out with the rest. So how do i get it to stay put?

Same thing happened to me. I am planning on just taking the console out and super-gluing it back into place.

I've taken mine out several times to access the wiring inside the console. It's held in place by spring clips molded into the yellow plastic surrounding the metal outlet. It shouldn't come out easily; requires a firm pull to dislodge it. Are you sure it's fully seated in the hole? It should fit flush with the console. Inspect the yellow plastic surround to see if the clips are damaged. If the clips aren't damaged, give it a firm push to snap it into place. If the clips are damaged, try a little super glue around the perimeter of the yellow plastic and push it firmly into place. There shouldn't be any need to remove the console to fix the problem.

Please tell me you have done nothing like glue or anything because the fix is so simple you can do it a few seconds!

I am looking up the part now.

What you are going to do is pull both the orange ring and the socket out of the hole and disconnect it, then you are going remove the socket from the orange ring, after that place the socket into the new ring, connect the socket back and push back into the hole and you are done. Should take you about 5 minutes.

Only reason I know this is because it happened to me and I figured I would share my experience to help someone out.

So there is enough wiring to pull the socket out from the top, rather than taking apart the whole console?

Absolutely, no problem at all. I've done it several times on my 2010.
