New countryman all4 gas question

Hi,
I just got my new all4 sat and I'm confused about the gas mileage. On my dashboard it says I'm getting 18.4 mpg??? I thought I was supposed to get 25. I already have driven 85 miles and I'm down 3 little gas marks on the fuel gage. Does the mileage improve? Or does the all4 not get the mileage it says. I have only driven around town, no long road trips. Thanks for your insight.

Seems low. I just broke 1000 mi on my CM4 and get in the mid-20s around town. Might want to check your tire pressure if you're not spending an inordinate amount of time in stop & go traffic.

Is it rated 25 city? Thats the only way I could see this big of a discrepency being an issue. Hell, my R53 only sees 22-24 in all city driving. Being that the CM4 is so much larger and heavier, if not being a hyper-miler, I could, indeed, see 18-20 as a realistic city-only number. Whats your average speed say?

How much idling is your CMS All4 doing? How much heavy city driving? With my CM we get 25 city driving and 30 + on the highway. I have gotten as high as 35 when travelling on back roads.

I'm not sure really how to check my average speed. I don't do mi h stop and go like being in traffic. Just driving around town. Would my dash board that shows mile per gallon normally say in the twenties? Literally the car came off the truck last week so I would be shocked if the tire pressure was low but who k ows. I'm just confused as the all 4 was advertised as 25 mpg city. I had a Mercedes before this car and was getting 16 mpg which is why I got rid of it and got the mini. So far it's not much better. Hmmm

I would suggest resetting the MPG and then see how it goes. If it's on the first tank from the dealer, remember that the vehicle spent alot of time idling there. I know mine did.

Ok thanks for the suggestion. I spoke to my sales person who said maybe the gas that was put I. Was regular because of the gas shortage on the east coast. I will refill premium and see if that makes a difference. I will also reset the mpg and see if that helps. Thanks

Gas consumption is much lower in cold weather, esp. if you do short trips and the engine never gets a chance to warm up.

my cms all4 was delivered with a full tank of premium, according to the salesman

i have my doubts that it was premium, i got 200 miles out of the first tank, refilled with almost 12 gallons of premium 93 E0, no ethanol fuel for the second tank and it was a 400 mile tank!

i also agree the cold weather hurts the fuel mileage, even if you get it fully warmed up the mileage is going to be less than you see next summer

While you're filling up calculate mileage/gallons to see what mpg you're truely getting. The OBC isn't entirely accurate. Its more of an estimate.

I don't have a Countryman, but my R57 S is really fun to drive and, though I'm still respecting the break-in period, this contributed to at least 1 fewer mpg on my first tank than what I'm experiencing on my second tank, now that I've calmed down a bit

Plus, only E10 is available within 75 miles of where I work (100 miles of where I live)
