Roadster & Convertible Owners - Question???

How hot is too hot for top down?

Florida summers are brutal. I've been riding top down all day in spite of it being 93+ degrees, blazing sun and humid, but I'm not sure how often I'll be doing it.

Once the sun went down and the temp fell to 84 it was a nice ride!

Depends on your own tolerence for heat.

Me... sunny and humid and 85 degrees equals top up and air on.

Not humid or not sunny, 90 degrees is my limit.

And if you have a wind deflector, take it out in the summer.... you need that air movement.

I've only had my 2010 MCS for two months, but the top is always down.
Twice I have seen 103 for the temp, my commute is not stop and go which really helps. When the wife is with me in these conditions, the top is up and A/C is blowing.

Depends on the humidity.

If it is humid, I give up around 82-84

not humid I can go til around 88 or so.

Also this is my first summer. The sun can just be TO MUCH and so I sometimes go top up mainly because I want to get away from the sun.

I do have sunscreen in the cubby hole, first car I have ever needed it, and love it!

I like it hot. I lived in Southern California with a convertible. Mega sunshine & heat. I think the highest temp was 100 with the top down - wayfarers, hat, and diet coke on hand. It worked. Maybe I developed a tolerance. Totally looking forward to airing out the new MCSC.

Now "cold" - that's a whole other discussion...

depends on how much traffic I'm hitting top is usually down. as long as I'm moving at a decent speed I'm much happier with it down.
driving it down to florida next month i'll let you know if my view point changes

although i have no idea how to get rid of the tan line from seat belt lol

My extreme's are currently:
99 degrees in the sun in Myrtle Beach. We tried to drop the top but it was just too unbearable.
My low with the top down was 32 degrees in mid December in Northeast Ohio. It was sunny out so I dropped the top (windows up) and as much heat as I could have blowing on me. I got some pretty funny looks that day on the way home from work.

Midnight

Best time to drive a convertible is after dark. I personally think that driving with the top down in the blazing sun is brutal.

Same here... if I'm moving, life is better with the top down. I'll be in FL as well on my b-day, August 11th.

WOW!

My hottest was 105, here in SW Ohio. Most of my driving is moving pretty fast. Not much stop and go in traffic. For that I might put the top up.
Try this: turn the AC on with fan on high and direct it to the foot wells. It does help a little if your feet aren't roasting.

22° here. +1 on the funny looks and comments. My standard response is: "Isn't that what hats, coats and gloves are for?"

If my MCSC were well today, I'd be driving top down in the 100+ weather and smiling.

I don't own a Convertible and I will tell you if you can't roll with the top at least 85% of the time what is the point of owning one? When moving I can do hot I mean super hot temps. I can not do stop in go traffic with it hot outside it sucks bad.

I must add that the amount of hair on your head and the amount of direct sunlight has some bearing on the position of the top during sunny mid-day jaunts.
