Any Koni FSD 'Words of Wisdom'?

My Koni FSDs should arrive soon. Are there any 'words of wisdom' that I should give the installers. For example, they should use the original springs and not lower them either, correct? Anything else? Thanks so much.

FSDs are direct replacement shocks as far as I know. In other words, you remove the old ones, remove the old springs from the assembly, reassemble with the FSD in place of the OEM shock, and bolt back into place. No adjustments necessary.

I just installed my set about 2 weeks ago. VERY cut and dry and NO lowering springs on these. Just reuse the old springs. They provide a great ride without giving up handling - I love my FSDs. Only issue I had were so siezed up bolts. Had to have one torched out - big PITA.

I would recommend checking if you have any mushroom issue on your front shock towers. I had some and pounded them flat while the shocks were out. Then I added some reinforcment from cravenspeed. Rock solid now.

Looks like you made the best first step already for ride quality and changed out the tires from your help thread here. Although you could of tried the run flats in my sig.

Just so you know - the Koni FSD's are no holey grail for ride quality on a brand new car - we went FSD's first and felt little to no difference in ride improvement. More control sure - but she will never ride like a Caddy. Had to do again - I would stay OEM shocks/struts until they wear out. And just try the tires in my sig.

I appreciate your thoughts re: that they will not be a Holy Grail of Comfort/Caddie experience. I need to have lower expectations.

You should consider getting new shock boots and other hardware that goes bad over time in the shock assembly. Look up the parts in real oem or parts geek etc. I didn't have them on hand when I replaced the shocks and have to live with the old hard ones or essentially redo the entire procedure.

These guys are having a half price sale on just that very thing. Don't put it off if you are interested. This is an inventory closeout sale.

The top bolt for the front strut off my OEM Sport shocks doesn't seem to fit my FSD's. Anyone else have this issue?

This thread is almost 2 years old
You might want to check out the suspension thread, just saying!

Yea, under the name of the thread they used to show the date the thread was created next to the OP's screen name but the powers that be, in their infinite wisdom, decided that information wasn't important. So, how many times have 5 or 6 year old questions been dredged up and answered well beyond the time the OP totaled their MINI and moved on to sumptin else?
