Hi Guys-
I've searched for "Previous Owners" and not found what I'm looking for. Has anybody got an idea how to contact the previous owner of our Minis? I really would like to contact them to see if they have some of the missing parts for my Mini. (IE:Spare Master Keys, Owners Manual, Mini Tool Kit, Spare wheel/tire .. excuse me Tyre) and see what they/he/she says. Any advice?

 

Cooper S doesn't come with a spare.

 

I know the Mini in general doesn't come with a spare, I was just speculating/hoping. Perhaps I can ask at the DMV or something..

 

LOL. Do you keep any spare parts from any cars you've sold lying around in case the next owner might need them? Nope. Me, either. You got rid of everything when you sold or traded in the car. I think It'd be a bad idea to track down the previous owner for various bits or info about what you bought.

 

Check your local Mini club perhaps. I tried before purchasing the car and failed. However, once I purchased it and posted up pics introducing myself I was quickly pointed to both previous owners who had been members of the board and was in contact with the most previous owner. In fact, I'm buying some extras off of him that he pulled to try to sell when he got rid of the car. Sadly I also learned of it's problematic history...but I'm hoping those two guys got everything sorted for me.

 

My 06 MCS came with a nav, and two pre-existing "HOME" locations. If I wanted to be a real creeper, I could visit the previous owners (or at least their houses) pretty easily. One of these days I've gotta wipe out the stored locations on the navi :p

I had someone come to my house because I forgot the clear the navigation in a truck I had traded in.

They told me they had an issue with the transmission and accused me of driving it hard. They wanted me to cover the costs.

I laughed in there face and told them to leave my property before we had a problem.

1 I never drove the truck hard and two I traded it in at a dealership on a new car. So Idk how that would be my problem at all. lol

I wouldnt mind a new owner contacting me and asking about the car or its history. Just kinda lame some people would attempt to contact the previous owner to make a complaint when they bought it from a dealer and not private party.

No public agency or dealer etc is going to give out that kind of information even if they know it.

There may be some maintenance info there as well? Not sure if that info is transferred when a new person registers? You need the VIN to register.
