my home made strut plates finished
Well here are a couple pics of my finished strut tower reinforcement plates.
I had a bunch of free time to mess around and had the winter bordom setting in so I machined these up.

Need to think of something else to make. Have a few more days off.lol

thanks for compliments guys.. They are made out of aluminum. I always over build things and this is another example.A little thicker than 5/8 but did that because of the raised rib in the tower. You need to cut out clearance for this and I wanted a stiff plate. The nuts are stainless.
It took too long to make to make them to sell. just a fun project.plus am not allowed to sell part with mini's logo..legal crap..
I have a cnc mill and wanted to play with it. I machined these manually but used the cnc for the logo.

Nice work. I am sure the pictures do not do justice to the real pieces. For your next project I think you should make covers for the holes in the middle of those strut plates. Machined so there is enough room to install a gasket around the lip to allow the cover to fit into the hole nice and snug. Wanna try?
Whoa! Nice work. Especially nice polishing job...
I agree with the others: a stress-bar would make a nice addition. I took my Craven STDs and cut up the mounts for this $90 bar, and bolted them to the plates with fat little M8 screws. I then had to bend the bar straight (it has a very subtle bend in one end, to clear the airbox and ECU) to get it to clear the hood, which was very difficult, but not impossible. I also replaced the bolts with homemade quick-releases from some high-end bike parts, so I can easily pop it out to work in the engine bay.
Does it do anything? I kind of doubt it. But it looks sweet. And the finish on the Bav Auto bar is really nice; it would match your polishing job perfectly.

I went out and made a couple covers. I really like the idea. Thanks...
The first one I put "Mini" on it.. I didnt like that.It looked too busy.I am a kind of a plain low keyed type.
I then made this plain cap and really like it.

I thought about the strut bar but as I looked at the location it seemed like it would be blocking the oil fill cap and make it harder to fill. I am not racing so dont need that. They do look neat tho..
Also made a couple rubber covers over the turn signal access hole.Cleans that area up nicely.
