The waving is nothing like it was back in 2002 and 2003.

I only stopped waving briefly at the Dragon in the surrounding area because every car was a MINI and you could have spent more time waving than having your hand on the wheel.

I look for mini's and notice them everywhere. I get excited and smile when I see one. I scope em out, see what they have, what model, etc. Till I read these posts, I was hoping I wasn't the only one with the joy of driving a mini and seeing others.

Not all have waved back, but most do

I am so glad to read this. I thought I was the only crazy fool to get excited and giddy. I just bought my 2012 Red MINI Hardtop on Dec 27th and no the dealer did not tell me anything about waving. I just do it because it seems like the natural thing to do. Then I saw the iPhone app which has different waves and thought there must be more to this. I am glad to see there is. I have been waving like crazy, but have only had two people respond back.

Today, the block I parked on had 4 Minis on it, including mine, and it was a short block. That's not unusual in SF. If I waved at every Mini, I'd have a sore arm. I kind of envy you guys where a Mini is unusual....

^ Yeah, what he said.
However, I also know that when my wife and I are out motoring she will see many more MINIs than I do. I'm busy watching the road ahead and miss a good number of fellow motorers. It is not that I do not believe in the wave, because I do. It is just that I am busy driving. So please do not feel offended if I do not return your waves and I will not be offended if you miss mine.

I wave when I see one, sometimes I'll flash, sometimes I'll smile............ sometimes I'll do all three.

I've been a Jeep owner for the last 9 years. So I have "the wave" down pat!! I just need to focus on the smaller cars once the CMS4 gets here!!

I gave the proper wave today to an on coming red mcs with black stripes. He soon returned it back. Although the timing was fast, I believe I caught a mirror image of myself with a big smile on

There are so many coopers now a days here in Mass. Yeah back in '03-'04 there was more energy amongst MINI owners.

I've had my CM for two weeks, I wave but get no response. Though just when you think that no one waves anymore, I get a wave, and I have to scramble to get a wave or a flash off so that I'm not "the guy who didn't wave".. ugh!

When I had classic minis I got a wave and guys flashed their lights all the time...MINI drivers in the UK don't tend to wave unless they are MINI fanatics...you can usually tell who will wave as they have modded their rides or drive S's or Works..
I still wave like a lunatic though in the hope someone will wave back..it is fab going to shows though cause you get loadsa waves and flashes then..
Last year we went to MINI in the park which is one of the biggest MINI and mini shows in the UK at Santa Pod raceway and there were thousands of minis/MINIS there going down the drag strip on club stands or just cruising..lots of waves then....

Probably safer to "flash" then taking your hands off the wheel.
Justa saying......

A lot of MINI owners still don't get that they are supposed to wave.

Since I don't have mine yet (I will next Saturday!!!!) every time my hubby and I see a MINI on the road, we yell "MINI!" and point at it, lol.

I can't wait to start waving. Right now in my Passat, I don't think they'd understand my enthusiasm, haha.

We have 2 and we love the wave. I find myself observing all oncoming traffic and its amazing how many I spot. Most don't see me but I know they don't have the enthusiasm for the MINI that I do. These autos have really screwed up my golf game. Hardly ever practice anymore as I'm reading about MINIs or driving mine. Oh well. Happy waving and motoring!

I absolutely love to wave. I wave every chance I get. I also recently had a great encounter. I pulled into my local grocery store right next to another MINI. The owner was sitting in the car talking on the phone and she was really cute. We made eye contact and smiled. I sat for a few minutes hoping I could talk with her but she was chatting away. I was on a time crunch to meet some friends so I went in and did my shopping.

I came out and there was a note under my wiper. "Greetings from your fellow MINI driver!", with her name and phone number. We have since met for cocktails and have become really great friends! These little cars are awesome!

Couple weeks ago wife and I was at the grocery store. I always park far away to lessen the chance of some boob banging the doors on my pepper white clubby. When we came out of the store another pepper white mini had parked beside us leaving a space between the 2. Wife and I had a big grin when we noticed. I noticed whilenPutting the groceries in there was a van parked close by and a older guy smiling and he "shouted hey there the same!" Several times. I smiled and told him it's like that sometimes. We never did meet the other driver but the van guy was all giddy. And by the way I always wave and about 75% of the time get a wave back

It does suck at time being this far away. I once limped all the way there as I could not get a tow truck to come get it.

I live in MINI country and there are so many MINI's here that if I were to try and wave at all of them, I'd look like Gomer Pyle on a prom date - but I wave back if someone actually waves first.
