Start a mini club??
Start a mini club??
So I recently moved to Pullman in Washington state. I have search but can't find any mini clubs near here. I have seen several minis and know a few of them.(clients of mine). My question is have any of you started a car club and or forum for your local area? I really want to get together with some other minis go in drives and all that fun stuff. Just don't know how to start... Anyone have any clue? I guess I could hand out flyers but I still don't know the first thing about starting a club or forum!

. There are benefits to that when it comes to doing events and whatnot as you will come under the BMW club insurance for liability. Also, as part of that car club there may be funds for doing things. They will also help with the "how to start a club" part. I would check out that route first.
I'm sure there are folks here that have more experience in this subject than I have. It would seem to me that you need to start on an informal basis with some "non-official" get togethers for lunch, dinner or a weekend cruise. Print up some "business cards/flyers with your name & phone number and put them on parked mini's you see around town. Also, pick an activity and post it anywhere that's free--Graigs list, store BB's, etc come to mind. Once you reach a few mini owners, give them copies of the business cards and ask them to also spread the word. My strong suggestion is don't over organize your "club" initially as a lot of folks are put off by car clubs. Keep it informal for a while and simply have fun getting together and sharing these fine cars! You can always formally organize into a CAR CLUB when the majority of the people that participate on a regular basis wish to do so!
Some good ideas! I guess I'll start with the flyers on the cars and see if that draws any attention. Does anyone know how to start the forums? Do you have to be good with computers? Because that's how my local club in Texas and I'm sure a lot of "mini clubs" post meetings. This doesn't have to be super organized but I thought it would be fun to get all these minis together.

Agree that the less formal, the better. The "club" I belong to is about as informal as it gets - no dues, no officers, no membership cards, nothing. We get together every two weeks at a local restaurant, and we also do group drives and other fun events. For the last group run, we had 33 MINIs show up, so it's a pretty fair-sized group.
If we want to do something like a group buy or having t-shirts made up, someone volunteers to organize it, and it always works out pretty well. This has been going on for 8+ years and has worked out well for us, while other, more "structured" groups have come and gone in that same time.
