I'm sure someone had to have built an application that can be installed on the GPS inside our Mini's. Reading more diagnostics on-screen, etc. Does anyone know of said applications?

I know the 2nd gen's with MINI Connected have apps now for their iPhones, but I am not sure if there are any engine diagnostic types if that is what you were referring to. I don't think the Nav system is connected to the engine...but I may be wrong.

I think the only way to do that would be to buy a OBD adapter and app for an iPhone, I can't remember the names off the top of my head but there are apps for the engine with that.

Correct. I believe that there is literally NO aftermarket software available for this unit in the aftermarket. I see that you have a 2005. It's a closed proprietary system and no development environment is available for outside software developers.

But it's no surprise. There isn't an OEM Nav unit of that era (from any manufacturer) that will allow you to load an app. Even on today's Nav systems (MINI Connected, Ford Sync) there are only a handful of available apps, and oriented at infotainment.

rkw is correct. I'd jump on writing some apps and I'd probably be happy to buy a nav system or MINI connected just to tool around with writing useful applications...problem being nobody lets developers into the car yet. Someone said that MINI Connected had some form of an SDK but I haven't heard of it or found it so who knows.

Until MINI wants developers, we'll wait unfortunately. Its pretty hard to force your way into it!
