Determining matching engine numbers for mini?
Determining matching engine numbers for mini?
Hey all,
I hope this is the right section to post this in, I'm pretty sure this isn't R53 specific. I have the engine out of my mini right now and there's some interesting writing in orange paint pen under all the filth on the block. Looks like it could be from either a machinist or a salvage yard or something.
I was just wondering if there was any way of looking up by VIN# or such what engine number (or range of engine numbers) came in the car. I have all the numbers off the block, head and valve cover. I'm just interested to see the history of the car, really. The place it was purchased from was a used mini dealer, but the car was immaculately clean which makes me wonder.
Anyways, if you guys have any knowledge on the subject, that'd be great! I'm pretty sure if I went to/called the dealer they'd be able to tell me but that's kind of a hassle.
Thanks!
