Austin,Tx. is about to step on the world stage with the opening of the new F1 track. The first race has been moved to November of 2012, a good idea as the temps will be a lot lower for drivers and race fans. This seems like a good excuse for all MINI drivers from Texas and surrounding states to head to Austin for the big event. Justa thought....

 

I'm really looking forward to F1 in Texas. Count me in.

 

Can we get a reserved MINI parking area? THAT would be cool!!

I'll be there. But I'll be flying in. The drive from Oregon doesn't sound appealing in November.

 

If it is in November (which isn't certain yet), we'll be very tempted. We won't be driving, unless someone knows of where to hire a MINI in Austin.

 

I will be planning to attend race and visit friends in Austin, I think would consider driving.

Where did you hear the race would be moved to November? I would have thought the Austin race would replace the Canadian Gran Prix in mid June.

 

Local tv and radio stations released the November 2012 date this week here in Austin. KXAN was one of the tv stations. Also check out some of the F1 sites and they talk about the new date..

 

I was thinking about that too! I'd love to motor on up to Austin when it opens. I have friends there, so go quite often as it's such a short drive.

 

This would be an opportunity for the local Austin Mini club to head up a gathering of MINIs for the inaugural F1 race in 2012. I don't belong to the club and don't know how active they are or if at all. If the Austin club has no interest how about one of the Houston or San Antonio clubs. This is bigger than one person, it will take the manpower of a club. Thought i would plant the seed early.
