Show me your Radar Detector Mounts

Most of the MINI and Mini drivers that have radar detectors tell me that the RDs are being used to "help" them if the fun factor is making them loose track of the mph and the RD is only to help protect them from a traffic violation. That said, will someone out there show me your RD mounting? I need some ideas because the fun is getting me close to ticket troubles and would like a idea or two only a V1 mount.

I presume the V1 has a suction cup windshield mount like my Escort? if so, I just use that and place it just to the right of center to avoid the parked windshield wiper.

FYI, on both my Escorts, I've added the soft fuzzy part of heavy duty Velcro to the bottom. This does two things. One, it's part of the mounting system I use on my motorcycle where the harder part of the Velcro is on the top of a mounting plate on the motorcycle dash. The second thing is that when I use it in the car, I position the Escort and the windshield mount so that the detector rests on the top of the dash and simply slides forward into the windshield mount. The Velcro keeps the dash from getting scratched up. Simple and no need for a fancy mount. When I park, I just lean forward, unclip the unit, and stick it in the gloove box or under the center console switches and stick my had over it.

Yes, it has the suction cup windshield mount. I interested in how I would be able to make the unit less conspicuous from the outside. I also have a remote display that I will be using. At one time there were some posts showing some interesting RD mounts and I forgot where I saw them, that is one of the reasons I'm asking. Thanks

I mounted the V1 on the passenger side of the mirror using the original mounting clip along with the "hook" side of Velcro and found I coud slip the arm of the mounting clip between the headliner and roof. Very stealthy and solid and I can still pull it out and put it in one of my other cars if I need to. I ran the phone/power cord inside the headliner, down the passenger A-pillar and into the fuse panel in the passenger footwell. The V1 is powered only with the ignition on, exactly as I wanted it. It goes off instantly when I shut the car off.

Here's a pic of that power wire. It's the red, black and yellow wire.

Mounted the remote display next to the tach with a custom bracket I made. Tried to keep it as stealthy as possible while still accessible. Works great.

Hey Patches!!!!
Here is a shout out to you! The posting you sent is exactly what I was hoping to get. Your set up is very nice and I may duplicate it or a least eventually install a very similar set up. Thanks for the photos and great description of the install in your MINI. This looks nice... I believe Motor On also has a set up like this, but I'm not sure of how he wired in the electrical. Again, thanks for the information!

Just an FYI. This wire is the wire that powers the cig lighter socket.

I mounted a V1 by the mirror on the headliner the same way.

I use a VEI V1 remote gauge in a gauge pod.

Wow, nice display! I wish I'd seen this before purchasing the V1 remote. Real nice set up.
