I have a 2010 mini cooper but I only have 1 key; the previous owner lost the spare key. My dealer quoted me $300 dollars for a replacement! (Yikes!)

So I found spare on ebay and I'm wondering if I can reprogram that key for my car. It appears to be the same as my key, however the numbering on on the back of my key is worn, so I can't be sure.

Does anybody have any experience with this?
