Mini Etiquette
Is it just me or do fewer and fewer people who are driving Mini's wave, flash lights, whatever?
Is there a way to get the word out? Is there a flyer to print and leave on peoples windshields or something letting them know we are a community and recognize a fellow Mini-thusiast

I agreee-very frustrating! I've had my MINI for 6 months, and I can count all of the waives on one hand that I've gotten in that period of time. I live in a metropolitan area, so MINI's are very popular. Even more disappointing, ALL of the Countryman drivers I've seen on the road so far, have ignored me when I've waived to them. All have also been female drivers. The first time I saw a Countryman, I was in the fast lane of a highway, but I slowed down to match the speed of the CM in the next lane to make eye contact and waive-but the woman didn't reciprocate.

As far as waving or flashing lights most drivers are yapping on their cell phones, texting, checking the stock market on their IPads, etc, etc.
In this age waving to somebody could be taken as an insult or as a hidden meaning.
Same thing with lights.
I use to wave to fellow MINI drivers because we use to do it in the old days of sports cars (50-60's).
Don't bother now.
With all the illegal drivers who can't read English or drive a pedal car, it's better to concentrate on what you are doing, driving

ive literly given up, when i pulled up to a red light i saw a mini pull up across from me, then over to my left then right as the light turned green another to the right of me, it was legitimately an intersection of mini's....albeit people that drive civics/corola's dont even have that happen to them.
That very same day i counted a total of 23 mini's....including the person that has a new clubman in schools parking lot But only 2 of them were R53's the rest were R56's....proof that the mini has become a grocery getter/ puddle jumper
i want the days of the R53 back, I miss those where it was rare to see another mini on the road, i really miss my R53 too

The other day on my new 4.5 mile commute we were crusin italian job style, a red one, blue (me), and a white, it helped that I had literally watched the newish italian job the night before I had a smile on my face all the way into the office

I didn't see someone wave to me in time to wave back, and it made me feel terrible. From that point on, I wave to every MINI I see. I also ride motorcycles, another community who waves, so I'm just in the habit of waving. If people don't wave back, I figure either they didn't see me in time, or they don't matter. I don't let it get to me. Driving a MINI or riding a motorcycle are enough to keep the smile on my face.

i wont start the wave to someone but if they wave to me, ill wave back...i think minis are all too common now...kinda like waving to the guy driving a honda accord when ur driving a honda accord...everyone has one...it seems...almost...the wave may have been cool on the 1st gen 1st year of production but now theyre everywhere

I find that Mini drivers do wave
and when I first became a MINI driver we did too.
and then the car became popular with soccer moms . . .
many local clubs have templates for bus' cards you can print to 'tag' cars and encourage enthusiasm

The waves were imported from Europe after WW2.
The troops were bring home these crazy little things called "Sports Cars".
You could 2 months before you saw another Healey 100-4.
The "sports car" people started waving to one another because there were so few of them on the road.
Eventually the "fad" caught on for all those in weird little cars with names like Triumph, Jaguar, Maserati, MG, Austin, Saab, Simca, etc.
Got first wave in 1958 driving a MG TC.
I think it was a wave, could only go about 50 mph at the time.
How many people know what MG stands for?
