I hope those are easier to read with the lights off in real life than in the photo.

Look what my wife surprised me with on my birthday!
(This is when keeping a wish list photo gallery on the computer really pays off - let's hope she saw the rear sway bar too )

It gave me a really sore thumb from a very hard to reach and difficult to pull wiring on the power steering pump. Didn't help that it was cold and raining/snowing outside either.

New Mileage High from One Tank of Gas!

Hey Everyone.

Over the past week I've been pushing my MINI to get the absolute best mileage I possibly could. Essentially, I was a hypermiler on steroids!

The good news: I reached a whole new mileage high out of one tank of gas!

The bad news: It wasn't easy!

Check out my story on my blog: http://goo.gl/WbXSD

Thanks Everyone! Please post comments and feedback too!

Nice job! Before having the Mini, I did this as an experiment for a class I was taking with my 400 hp Cadillac CTS-V. I increased my mileage by 6 mpg. Was it easy, No way! I thought I was going to shoot myself. The desire to step on that pedal was almost irresistable. I did it for that class, and threw in the towel after the experiment was over. I tried it with the Mini too and with still driving somewhat aggressive, I bested 36 mpg. I decided, driving the way I want to and getting 32 mpg, makes me happy and I know, if I back off a little, squeezing that extra mileage is completely doable. I is truly a mind retraining exercise!

My MINI is going to get us up to the track tonight (reno-fernley). Almost packed up, it's got 4 stock MINI tires & rims, tool box, full size jack. Just have to put a few of my things in there and it's good to go!

Glad you had fun at the Dragon, Giggles. Now it's your turn to convince me about a mod - the torque arm bushings.... What do they do, where do they go and why do I want them?

Go!

It's a torque arm mount insert. It's about in the middle of your car under the engine (engine mount). It's firmer then the original so it takes that pull to one side out when accelerating. You don't remove the OEM insert, this one fits on both sides of the OEM (2 pieces). Best $60 mod you can do. Go to www.waymotorworks.com and pull your car up and search for NM torque arm mount insert.
Hope this helps. Sorry Giggles, I stepped in.

All forgiven! The bushings are firmer than the OEM ones. It reduces engine roll, thus transferring power from the the engine to the wheels much faster reducing lag. This combined with the DDMWorks CAI are two of the best mods for the "straight " Cooper! DO IT!!!!!! You will love your Mini even more!!!!!

I installed a red billet oil catch can to intercept the crap before it gets macerated by the turbo blades, and will install my "MINI -50th" grill badge tomorrow in prep for the Import East Coast Nationals at Carlisle next weekend. Who else besides me is going?

Betty took Deb and I on a run to prepare for a scheduled tour of the covered bridges in Bucks County PA. She handled flawlessly on many twisties and got us out of places we shouldn't have been. Next Sunday I have to behave myself. I guess I need a sighted co pilot

Welcome to the world of Mini ownership! Nothing quite like it. This sweet little car has changed my life, literally. Joined a local Mini Club, attended Minis On The Dragon this year, going on a club run tomorrow, list goes on and on...

Motor on!

Mine hauled a new solar blanket for the pool home. The fella wheeling it on the dolly looked a little concerned walking across the parking lot when he saw I was headed for the MINI.
Both rear seats down and the front passenger all the way forward and folded fit perfectly.
