Only reason I see is price.

I mean at the end of the day, it is a niche vehicle and you will pay for it.

I know you are going to hate the comparison but you could buy a new Genesis coupe / Mustang and still have money leftover to mod the car to give it more "nimble" handling.

That's just me though.

Visit the 2nd Gen JCW forum for plenty of feedback. In the end you need to decide whether it's worth it or not. Not that this tells you a whole lot, but I went from owning/driving a 2002 SVT Lightning for 8 years to a JCW and couldn't be happier.

Bend the rules, rule the bends

Still wouldn't be a MINI, would it?

Agreed, if you want it, you want it. It is ultimately up to the buyer because it's his money.

That being said I'm glad I didn't test drive a JCW because if it was that much more fun, I probably would have bought it.

(although I do want the jcw bbk)

I picked up a used '09 and it's great!

I will admit that if I was buying new I'd have a hard time with the $$ differential.

I was in the showroom, signing the papers on a new '09 Coupe, but the JCW Coupe right behind me kept calling my name.
I was resisting a test drive. The sales manager saw me drooling, came over and talked me into taking it for a spin; it got me.

I have one of the very first 2009 JCWs shipped to the US. 23k miles. Very modded. No issues so far. Simply put... there is no comparison between a JCW and a Cooper S... NONE. JCW should be your starting point. If its too much car and too much money then look at the Cooper S.

I had an 08 Cooper, found an 09 JCW, and traded up. I don't have any regrets. I should have bought the JCW in the first place. Best purchase I have ever made.

I would add Piece Of Mind. I didn't have to go looking for some long-haired guy with dirty jeans who rents the back corner of somebody's shop and then have to worry about warranty issues on top of that.

As it is, I feed it gas, oil and tires, treat it to an occasional trip to the dealer, stroke it with some Zaino and we're good...
