Thinking about getting a MINI S. What year would you say is the best up to '06

I can vouch for '06 being a great year, from firsthand experience. 
Whatever you find, make sure you get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done at a MINI dealer or reputable independent MINI shop before signing on the dotted line.

This question has been asked a lot. Like stated, '05-06 are the best R53 supercharged mini"s. because of transmission, coated supercharger, and just improvements from earlier models. Now r56 turbo minis are 07 and up. completely different feel.
Of all the MINIs made to date, both GEN1 and GEN2, the '06 S is the best.
Of course, in my humble opinion.
