Sport Stripe Install

Anyone know the typical cost of supplying and installing a set of sport style stripes from the front to the back of the car? I emailed a local shop and was quoted $495 installed. To me that seems a bit steep but I am unsure of the going rates for this type of work.

Also does anyone in the Northern VA/DC area know any good shops to recommend?

Thanks.

Go visit Aesthetic Creations web site. They have all the stripes you can dream of, very economical and easy to put on. Just takes patience and don't hurry the job. There are several threads on the topic herein so do a little homework and you'll do fine. Its a great DIY.

That sounds steep even compared to dealer installed. I had my bonnet stripes dealer installed for around $150.00. I agree that AC is a good place to start as they participate in NAM.

Yeah I used cooper flags and had a sunroof graphic and two side stripes(low door stripes) for about half that price install and graphic cost included.

That price is way outta line IMHO. I had stripes done by a local graphics place that cost $160 - vinyl + labor. Definitely shop around.

That must be a younger generation thing. I hear more and more the idea of why do something yourself when you can pay to have it done.

Oh believe me I do many things with my car, my motorcycle and my house on my own. When it comes to laying vinyl or tint I know that I don't have the skills necessary to produce the desired install quality I am looking for. So if by a "younger generation thing" you mean the ability to evaluate my skill set and determine that it will take a professional to complete the work at the level that I expect... then yes perhaps it is.

Thanks for the responses everyone else. This guy installs stripes for the local MINI dealer and he says that its so much more expensive because I requested they continue onto the bumpers. I am still not sure what I am going to do.

@5spoke: I'd Google for "auto graphic install" or something like that, and see what hits you come up with. My guy ran the stripes all the way down the bumper, and did some pretty good work on the grill of my car (see my sig or gallery for the bonnet stripe). I'm still sayin' $495 is too high for that job, and you should be able to find a much better price. Edit: when placing an order I spoke w/the owner of AC, and he was able to recommend a local shop for installation if/when I decide to replace my stripes & order from him.

As for doing it myself, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car, and especially a highly-visible visual characteristic like stripes. I had enough problems getting the perfect fit for a screen cover on my iPhone, I knew I'd never be happy w/doing stripes myself, thus, I paid a pro.

Thanks! I must confess I got the idea from another NAM thread. I liked the look in pictures, but love it in the flesh (or more properly, vinyl & sheet metal )
