New windshield fresh chip...annoyed

So about a month ago I got new windshield on my '05 MCc...mind you I didn't have to pay for it because the windshield cracked at the dealer, so they replaced it for free. Anyway today I get in Baxter and I was at just the right angle because as I got in the car I noticed a chip/crack in the windshield...ain't that some sh*t. The chip is obstructed by the rearview mirrow. New windshield new chip. My original windshield was chipped within a month or 2 of ownership too. Anyway I'm just annoyed...Insurance said they do free mobile repairs so hopefully that works out.

Seriously though the rock situation is outta control. On my next mini I'm fer sure getting the clear bra because my bumper has more rock chips then a boy that's going through a vicous bout of puberty has whiteheads!

Just steaming a bit is all.

I know the feeling.... in less than a week of ownership (that would mean under 500 miles) on my Clubman I had 2 rock chips in my windshield. Got to love Road Destruction here in Ohio.

Was motoring down the freeway yesterday, when all of a sudden I saw a stone coming right at the windshield... Sure enough, I now have a nice little starburst just underneath the wipers... We've got the windshield repair guys everywhere... Stop in and 20 minutes later it's done... Not perfect, but won't spread... Plus, they bill your insurance co...

Dealer doesn't do the windshield, auto glass company does,. In South Carolina there is no charge for glass its a state law but I doubt may states have this law. Ask your insurance company but I think you can request original equipment which made a difference on my BMW windshields, may not matter on Mini windshield.

I know how you feel. Had 2 windshields replaced in a 6 month period.

Got my windshield repaired...and it looks good as new. I highly recommend contacting your insurance company if you chip your windshield, I have nationwide and the repair was free. I called Thursday and had someone at my house Tuesday....it could have been sooner but my schedule was wonky. I think the damage has to be smaller then a dollar bill for it to be repairable. Anyway safelite (sp?) came to my house and was gone in 20 minutes plus they vacuumed my car and cleaned all my windows. Now that I think about it was I supposed to tip? As for if the dealer does replacements this windshield was a dealer replacement but only because it cracked beyond repair while in there care and I believe there is a windshield guy. Otherwise I don't think windshields are considered a warranted item.

Had my insurance company take care of my windshields, and it was part of my coverage so I paid nothing. Installation took less than an 30 minutes in my driveway. As for the windshield being covered under the warranty, no it is not. The first time I had to replace the windshield I called the dealership first and the said it was not covered by the warranty and would cost $450.00, I quickly hung up and called my insurance company.
