General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
I attached it to my barn. My wife complained about it until it was done. Now she wants one on the other side. I assume if I build another that I can have another Mini also!
I took the pic with my phone just before we left with the car and didn't even notice she was in it until I posted it here. It is kind of funny maybe she can stay out there too!
Thanks on the doors, I wanted to match the barn doors. It will be painted to match also. I'm hoping to pour concrete this week so it can sit while were at the rally and be ready whenever we get back

Realy it looks great, and you dont need to park out in the OHIO wilderness any more.
I guess my only question was can that roof hold 2 1/2 tons?? we design for about 25psf snow load here in Ohio and that could be (without knowing dimensions) about 5000lbs.
Just watch it under heavy snows.... 2X4s @ 24" o.c. and a flat roof (2X6
s?) can get iffy.
And parking a $30K car in it, could lose you just that.
[Or its been professionally engineered and disregard.]
It's 2x8 on 24 centers. Only the end board of the overhang is 2x4. It's only 12ft span inside. The roof is connected to the barn but is sitting on posts at the inside wall also. The barn is portable wood floor no foundation.
Some of the remarks you got in the begining sounded a little smartasstic, but I for one belive that you shuld be proud of yourself for taking the time and doing your project right. Anything that somebody does, and feels good enough about it to throw it out there where the world can see deserves a in my book.
haha. im the only one who had the smartasstic comments admittedly. But i've done permit drawings for a lot of collapsed things built either a long time ago, or out of city limits....So I was curious
Now you just need to get Home Depot to color match some Outdoor paint to the MINI body color. Paint most of it blue, with the 2x4s on the door black. And of course a black roof .

All valid concerns you voiced. I was thinking the same thing. Living with my lady Architect I must have picked up a few things.
Last winter there was a NAM member who had his garage collapse under the snow load onto his new MINI.
Anyway it's nice you love your new MINI enough to build it a house.
Concrete is in. Painting is done. The inside will have to wait until after the Rally. Time to load the car.
Great job but I hate to say this... but your garage looks better than the barn..lol.
Though I have a 2 car garage built with my house (I have 5 cars, 2 harleys and an oversized H2 that can't fit into a 2 car garage) I have this in the backyard for the lawnmower and crap. It's waaay big enough for the mini and if I can't figure out where to park some of this crap, Oscar is going to have a new home.
Maybe I can get you to come build onto it...lol. OH isn't that far from NC.
Need the trim work yet but it's insulated and ready to heat winter is coming. I think I'm going to trim it in diamond plate. Need mat for the floor too.
It looks a lot bigger now, and I noticed you finaly let your wife out of the car.
How did you guys like MTTS/MITM? For the floor they make a rubber tile that you can do a cehckerd pattern with, or Challenge stripes would be cool.
