I was looking through the classified ads in my local paper today (St. Petersburg Times) to see if there were any MINIs for sale.
To my surprise there were more Ferrari's listed for sale (one F430 at a local import dealer) than there were MINIs! One dealer has a used '08 MCS in their 'bulk' ad, but no private (nor any other dealer) sales at all. Zero, zilch, zip, nada.
I thought that was pretty interesting, and a tribute to the MINI motoring movement.

Yep, none here (Hilton Head) either. When I got my '07, last month, it was from the Charleston MINI dealer (little quarter of the BMW lot, but they have separate offices). They are a medium size dealership and hardly ever have any used inventory. Customers don't trade 'em in. My '07 was the sole used MINI on their lot.

I'll be interested to see if this changes later this year when the '11s are out. I kinda hope so, as that's about the time I hope to permanently plaster a big grin on my face w/the purchase of my first MINI.

I'm in Colorado (Boulder County), and we've got a lot of used MINIs available. Because I'm looking for a second MINI I've been watching the used market fairly closely, and it appears as though they tend to stay on the market for a long time. Guessing that indicates that the preference here is for a new MINI.
There are more Ferrari's for sale because they're too expensive to own in this economy. You're probably seeing rich guys getting rid of them because they're not doing so well all of the sudden.
On the flip side, nobody who owns a MINI wants to get rid of it, because it's such a fun car to drive, and it is affordable enough to keep making the payments on!
