MINI Pickup Would you buy one?
I would like to start a poll.
If MINI made a single cab Pickup. Like the classic but maybe using the New Clubman body. Would you buy one?
Someone posted a Photoshopped one on Photobucket. This is what I would like to see. Maybe not the color choice but what do you think.
If you would buy one post yes on here if not post no.

No.
If the "bed" isn't any longer than the cargo area in regular Cooper (or Clubman, in this case) there's little, if any, added utility. Beefing up the suspension to make it able to haul anything heavier than the car is able to, coupled with removing most of the weight from the rear wheels and throwing off any semblance of weight balance would ruin the handling.
Companies tried making "car trucks" in the '60's - '80's (at last count Australia was still doing so, but they're upside down anyway ) and it didn't go so well... The smaller ones made in the 80's in particular were spectacular failures. "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
EDIT: Realized I didn't include that the Photoshop is pretty decent, though. And although I think I like the Countryman better from a practical standpoint (although it should have round headlights), at least the truck has some ties to Mini's history.

Yes!
I've had several of those "impractical" trucks and yes, if you buy a truck to haul a big boat or trailer or something it's not useful But, if you like most Americans, buy a truck for daily driving and occassionally to haul a couple of bags of mulch home from Home Depot or a TV from Costco, it makes all the sense in the world.
The problem I had with my two VW pickups was that the cabin was just too small, I couldn't get the seat back far enough to get comfortable, so as long as they can get enough cabin space, I'm there.
This was an even bigger problem with the Mini Classic pickups, I have a friend who has one and I can barely get in or out of it, and I'm only 5'9".....
The "car-trucks" the previous poster mentioned actually sold very well from 1957 when Ford brought out the Ranchero till they ended production with the El Camino in the late 80's. They still sell well in Australia and other parts of the world.

With the Ranger (the closest thing to a small truck still available in the US) scheduled to be gone after next year, maybe the timing's right for a revival of this idea... I'd bet against it, though, based on the sales of the Subaru Baja (~30k in over four years) and Chevy SSR (~24k in four years) - the most recent vehicles of this ilk to be offered in the US.

kinda like in my opinion how porsche totally devalued their image and name with the stupid sedan and suv. i saw bugatti is doing a sedan and aston is doing an suv? rubbish!

What do you mean impractical? If you are good at packing you can carry quite a few things. Here's a little bit of a load that I had in my pickup.

There's actually a shop in the UK that does pickup conversions. Prices starting from £5000.
