I've been itching for a MINI Pick Up since the very first time I saw a photoshopped version. MINI should try doing a current customer survey at the very least. Find out what people think. Be as fair as possible, as I feel this could win approval, but perhaps by only a slight margine for some of the reasons already mentioned.

I for one, completely understand that this vehicle would not be for use like a standard or even a small scale pick up truck. It's more about a look that could haul some odd shaped stuff that wouldn't otherwise fit in a standard MINI shell without poking holes in the headliner, or requiring removal of the sunroof.

I say "YES". GO FOR IT MINI !!!!!!!!!

I was traveling through Ft. Madison, Iowa last Tuesday and spotted what appeared to be an R53 that had been converted to a pick-up. The car was sitting on the lot of a repair or hot rod shop right on Iowa-61, just South of town. The car was CR/CR with painted arches. It might have been a former Red Bull car that had lost its cans and had been refurbished. Unfortunately, I wasn't driving so I couldn't stop to investigate further or take any pictures. Looked pretty cool from what I could see.

I think, just like the originals, it needs to be built on the Clubman chassis tho, to gain the extra wheel base so the front seats have enough room to not be bolt upright, and to get a bed big enough to hold something useful. Building it on the shorter coupe would not only be less useful, the cabin would be too cramped.

dingdingding! we have a hater! just because they make a convertible and an extended wheelbase mini you won't buy another hatch? that def sounds like the right choice.

i like the two photochops, especially the one of the AC Schnitzer clubman. and i would pick it up in a heartbeat.

This is turning out to be a pretty good thread. Siertanly a lot more for a MINI Pickup than against. This is a great place for MINI to start with research.

In my opinion I think the Clubman based MINI Pickup would be easy to tool up for MINI. (not much would need to be changed.) I think it would also be a huge seller. Not just here but in other countries as well. The world needs smaller Pickups

Now for a show of hands. If a MINI Pickup could be made now for about $50k who would buy one.

I'm sure if MINI built it in mass production it would be comparable to the price of the Clubman.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone...but I CAN'T STAND "pickups" that are low-riders or made to look like racing machines. Drives me nuts!

The OP asked a yes or no: I say no thanks... My husband has a Nissan Titan. How dumb would it look if I had a MINI pickup??? What the hell am I going to haul in that thing that the Titan cannot, I ask you!?! We are a truck and car family. Yep, TRUCK and CAR. Hauling and motoring, respectively.

But I am a firm believer in the phrase: to each his own. So if you dig it, that's cool, if not, I'm with ya!

PS - I must add that I am a fan of the classic mini pickup. Due to its nostolgic character and the fact that it was a hauling mini in the UK where a regular pickup wouldn't really fit on the road or anywhere for that matter... Could you imagine driving on Ireland roads in a full size truck?

Once again.. not everyone owns a truck, or wants a full sized truck. Having owned small toyota and mazda basic "no name" pick ups in the past, sometimes you have a truck for getting stuff at Lowe's that you don't want to put in a car.....not all of us are construction workers and need 2 ton payloads.

Besides, from an artistic point of view, it could be very attractive. Let's see what they come out with before we so passionately bash it .

Did you mean $15K?

Cause $50K is stupid money for any MINI, even tho they seem to be headed that way.....

I would be happy with a Justa MINI trucklet - I wouldn't even need it to be an S, and with no back seat and so on it should be cheaper than a comparable sedan/coupe - just as the originals were....

I would definatly buy one, as long as it is based on the Cooper or Clubman, I dont really care for the look of the Countryman or whatever they are calling it now.

I think it would actually be more practical for carying stuff in the back than most people think. No you wouldn't be able to tow a house or load the bed with hay bails like the big boy trucks but, it would be great to throw a couple coolers in the back and go hang out at a campsite, or the track in style. Plus it would be a sweet looking little daily driver that would turn some heads in a parking lot.

Count me in for one Mini Mania nailed the style I am after dead on(minus the brown) think bright colors and surf boards. The ocean goers would love it.

I think the Photoshop design looks cool, yet I am not sure it would sell that well. For someone who wants a truck they will most likely want somethign more capable of hauling heavy loads, longer bed, etc... I would say this is more of a novelty and would only appeal to a small group of consumers.

Would I buy one, -No. (Not because I dont' like it, I just like sports cars better than trucks and car/truck conversions).

Haha cute, but utterly useless. I wouldn't buy one, but I would smile if I saw one going down the street.

Like I said: to each his own. No bashing here! Just putting in my 2cents as requested to do so...

A MINI pickup sure would turn some heads!

The S10, Ranger, Tacoma, Frontieer, and every other small pickup is also concidered useless in my book but, theese models have sold hundreds of thousands of units world wide. Not everyone buys a truck as a workhorse or off roader, and lots of people who buy the giant lifted behemouths that are clogging our highways never use them. Old people buy small trucks because it is easyer to get stuff out of the back. Chicks like little trucks cause there so "cute"(so is the MINI). I still bet that in a world market (exept most of the other posters on this thread's world) it would sell pretty well.
